FELICIA/FAVORIT APPRECIATION THREAD

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Well after almost 5 years with my felicia as the first car, it would be time to present the car.

The feli is a LXi from 2000, with the 1.3 135m (54 hp engine)

I bought the car in 2014, with 85 000 km and everything in top condition (except the electric windows) and I am the third owner.

Meanwhile, he has run over 140 000 km without major problems.

What has been done to date (BIG thanks to you guy's) (except oil change, etc.)

- Thermostat

- Temperature sensor

- MAP sensor

- Throttle body

- A gasket for the gearbox

- Thermostat housing

- Temperature contact for the cooler blower

And well, I still like to drive it every single day :)

@nimbus - Nice car, and indeed nice photos of it.

If I could ask though, what are you using for spotlight steadies? I've had a sort of idea of fitting some decent spots to my Octy, but I don't think the grille is really stiff enough to deal with big spots.

Hi KenONeill, Thanks,

I use the plastic grill. The screw off the headlight goes through two small metal plate, and between them, there is the front grill. I was also skeptic if it could handle it, well after nearly 3 years there still on it.  I don't know how big your spots are, mines are quite small (7 inches in diameter).

I can take a picture of it, if you want.

As Ken inferred, we like to keep similar questions to just the one thread.

Your question might need to be read a few times before someone can help though.

P.S. I've left the other posts 'just in case' as you wouldn't have known.

Not to mention this pinned topic has a totally different purpose than asking for parts/solutions. Its title is pretty obvious.

Good Afternoon,

I have just bought a 1999 Skoda Felicia Pickup VIN TMBEFF673W5741465 - We're based in the UK, Manchester.

I've only had her for 2 days - she needs a bit of TLC but we've just cleared her for 12 months MOT so we're going to prep for paint next week!

Hi all - nice to be part of this group.

Dan

Exactly as I thought. Your car has nothing to do with this topic, Felicia 1.3 with engine on carburetor. Your engine is fuel injected. It says clearly 1.3 MPi (Multi Point Injection). In fact I doubt there is even a single Felicia on carburetor in the UK.

My bad, Ricardo, I don't have huge amounts of knowledge on these - I'll remove it now.

There won't be, because EU regulations for a 1994CE new model require catalytic converter, fuel injection and lambda sensor.

Read this on the Liverpool Echo website earlier then seen it on ITV news this evening, LFC fan bought a Favorit for £40 and it's took him all the way to Madrid.

Great advert for how awesome Skoda's are!

Jeez Ricardo, a bit harsh don't you think? Since when was it a thread about carburetor models only?

@myjalopy the moderator john999boy moved 7 messages from topic Felicia 1.3 on carburetor - owners around the world to this topic. Relax. I know exactly what I'm doing in that topic started by me.

Hi Ricardo

I'm relaxed, but in addition to the carburetor clanger, this earlier over-reaction to  a new member erroneously posting in the 'wrong' thread, suggests to me that you might need to relax a bit more. The 'fau paix' had been addressed already and needed no further input.

Apologies if I have offended you, but after a while away from the forum, I was surprised to see how new members were being treated.

@myjalopy

The new member had nothing to object about my observation. It is rather curious that you are more concerned than him...

Where i come from men are not so easy to have their feelings hurt.

As you already know though Ricardo, where we come from we like to do things with a less confrontational attitude and it is always a good idea to bear that in mind. :wait:

Also, new members deserve to be treated with just as much respect as longer standing members - maybe even more so due to their lack of ‘Briskoda etiquette’.

This a Favorit that lives near me and is the only one I can now think of in Southampton. It's almost always parked here but does go out occaisonally. It needs a really good polish and has a little damage on the front wing but is generally sound.

Just found this old post from 2013.  This one mine now, bought a few months ago :)

Still needs a good polish but will get around to it soon. Currently undergoing some mechanical restoration ready for my European road trip

Blimey, that thing had lived where I took that photo for years. I hadn't been round that way for a while so hadn't noticed it missing.

So are you still local, Southampton area, then? Good to see someone is going to take it on, it's a bit of a Southampton landmark.

It lives in SE London now. I bought it to do a "banger rally" to Monte Carlo in July but always had a soft spot for old Skodas and the like, so as long as it makes it there and back, and the MOT man is kind in October it will probably end up hanging around in SE London for a bit longer.  Had a patch on the sill and the arches need attention, and less said about the inside of the tailgate the better but other than that seems pretty solid. Its not done many miles in last ten years so fair bit of mechanical work needed for the trip. Although the previous owner did keep on top of the maintainance so its only the impending long trip which is dictating the work so far......
