Haven't read through all the posts but your Octy didn't come via Lincoln by chance :wonder:

Admiring it or one just like it in their yard a couple of weeks back; very smart indeed and a great colour combo for the Octy III :)

Enjoy,

TP

Yes that would have been mine, I couldn't pick it up straight away as we were on holiday.

Had an update from Hortons yesterday, mine's now built and awaiting despatch from factory! Thats less than 7 weeks from order to factory gates!

Also, sorted the finance out to get the extra deposit contribution and the free servicing.

You'll love it Matt, this is the first car in a long while where I just take it out for a spin for the sake of it! :)

Cheers, will do, got to wait until 1st June as current car on lease until end of May!

Looking forward to playing with all these toys on mine in a few weeks time!

Looks great! But even the 17-inch alloys look too small! What does one have to do in order not to see so much space between tyre and wheel arch? I really wouldn't want to buy the 18-inch alloys (more expense) but it seems that Octavia's are on stilts these days. Not mentioning any possible reduction in ride quality and an increase in road noise. Apart from my personal gripe, it looks really nice, interior is a nice colour, and I wonder if it's difficult to keep it clean.

Just wondering if the satnav is Europe or just UK?

According to the Octavia brochure the Amudsen sat nav has " European maps on SD card including updates for three years"

Great thanks

Yep it has Europe installed

It looks fantastic! I got the same car because blue is my favourite colour and the Octavia looks fantastic in it. You're a lucky man, I am very jealous!

Put my first full tank of fuel in today so that I can check the accuracy of the computer, on indicated mpg its looking to be slightly better than the vRS on the some home to work route. I like the sat nav giving a list of nearby garages to navigate to once the low fuel light comes on. Not yet tried economy or sport mode, will do so once I've done a brim to brim calculation in normal mode. The interior is a very nice place to be with comfy seats, lower cabin noise and better speakers than the mk2, loving the DAB, no more poor AM reception listening to talksport! Low speed ride comfort now much better having reduced the tyre pressures from the stupid ones the dealer supplied it with!!

The quietness of the cabin is far better than expected. However the fact that the car doesn't come with boot nets, led running lights, reversible boot floor etc as standard detracts from my enjoyment a bit.

I thought the DRL were incorporated into the headlights?

Yes if you buy xenons at an extra thousand odd quid. Those nice led strips were what I thought was standard driving lights but are only fitted with a xenon pack. The standard driving lights fitted to the halogens are just the dim 5w yellow halogen parking lights AFAIK.

I've still got the boot net package from a previous scout so that works well, reversible boot mat ican live without but i agree it's bad SUK advertise it as an intelligent feature only not to supply it! Matt Pez looked into it I think to be told it's due to manufacturing problems, strange when it can be specified on other models. I loved the LED DRLs on my last vRS but wasn't prepared to spend £1K on xenons to get them, I fact I think the mk 2 fl vRS DRLs look better than the mk3 s, but I'm sure others will like the mk3 s slimmer design

Interesting, what have you lowered the pressures to, & what were they originally please?

My car being made this coming week, been told delivery early June!!

Mine are set at 2.2 bar which is 32 psi and seems about right.

Think the OPs were set at 3.2 bar in error which is 48psi

I've lowered them first to 2.4 bar then to 2.2 bar as per the inside of the fuel flap. They were delivered at 3.2 bar!! I think the apprentice or whoever inflated them got their PSI and bar confused!

Thanks for the replies, 3.2 bar!! I'll be checking mine when I get it!!

So the 5w parking lights are a poor imitation of the Mk2 DRL's Carrock? I thought all European cars manufactured from a certain date had to be fitted with DRL's. I agree that the Mk2 DRL's are a great feature. Shame that the MK3 has none.

Could it be

(i) harder tyres less "bouncy" on transport?

Plus

(ii) preventing "flat spotting" if sitting in stock?

So perhaps was the failure to deflate to road specification pressure by the dealer?

I will start the car and go and look. DRLs don't have to be LEDs
