First glitch today, the nav screen went blank and the radio turned off, tried turning on off with no success, approx one minute later came back on it's own! On a better note the 1.4 made short work of a number of hills, pulling very strongly from 1500 revs!

Sounds like it has re-booted itself for some reason. Normally the on/off button is like a standby on a tv for example. The columbus in my Superb used to do this occasionally, not normally an issue, but sometimes it would freeze and the only solution was to force a re-boot by pressing the 4 small buttons at the top of the unit. These buttons seem to have disappeared on the new head units so will have to play around to work out the re-boot sequence as the manual and the dealers don't normally advertise these functions!

Been driving around in Eco mode for the last couple of days, can't really detect any change in the drive except the average mpg readout has increased ! Today on the 23 miles to work it reached 57 mpg!! Hope that's a real increase and not the computer just being reprogrammed to be more optimistic lol :)

Just done a 250 mile round trip to Stokeyland! the car is very quiet at 70 ( rpm 2450 Yetiman BTW) The all leather seats have proved very comfortable and the cabin environment very relaxing no rattles, very little wind noise and great standard speakers. I've found the first road not on the sat nav, the new A46 dual carriageway south of Newark, but as thats only been open for less than a year I think I'll wait before updating the SD card. the Eco tips are good and not obtrusive. The tiredness warning system is great I planned to try and trigger it as it was a longish journey, but the early start led to the system detecting I was tired!! Latter I tried to trigger it with a sudden steering input but could not do so, so the software appears quite advanced. Now past 1000 miles and the second brim to brim was 47 mpg again and I can't see any driving penalties from driving in Eco mode. Now to try sport mode!!! :)

Has anyone found out yet whether the octy3 has the same wheel spec as the octy2 so that I can start pricing up a winter wheel/ tyre package?

The dealer here in Romania gave me as discount 4 winter tyres Michelin Alpine A4 on 16 inches. This is not a new model so I guess the specs are the same. Also I oredered some Rial Milano rimms and these are the same with octavia 1 even...

Just found out the cost of steel wheels for the Octy 3 is £68.40, so when I collect the boot nets I'll order 3 to go with the spare and then look around for some winter tyres. You can bet we'll be in for the mildest winter on record once I've done so!

Sounds like a good plan, with or without hub caps?! What do you plan to do for a spare, will one of the alloys fit in the wheel well?

What size are the steel wheels? Are the same as the 17" size listed in the brochure?

Bugger I didnt think to check if the alloys will fit, doh! Im planning on just using one of the winters as a spare for the 8 to 9 months I have the alloys fitted. Will look into hub caps or even wheel trims, not a big fan of the black steel wheel look.

16 inch I think, will check tomorrow.

16" steel spare with my 18" Golus. Both the 17" and 18" alloys are 225 wide which is 20mm more than the 16" alloys so assuming the steel spare is also 205mm wide, the boot floor may not go down fully but I am sure a bit of upholstery foam padding with a wheel shaped hole from Dunelm or somewhere similar would do the trick!

Got up early to give the Octy it's second wash! All this sun is not good for car washing lol, but managed to manoeuvre the Octy into the shade of next doors fence to get fhe wash completed. I did cheat and clean those bl**dy wheels last night, they have so many faces that they take a while and I always miss somewhere! The wash allowed me make my mind up about whether to fit the spoiler or not..... And decided not to fit one, I quite like the notchback shape and think fitting the spoiler in isolation may look a bit CHAVish or even worse make it look like a vRS wannabe lol !!!

I saw my first Race Blue Octavia Mk.3 yesterday and it looked really glorious...I must admit I'm not a fan of multi-spoke wheels as I have a fetish about cleaning them, takes me as long to clean the wheels as it does the rest of the car!! Nearly invested in the 18" Golus, the £350 extra combined with the added cost of replacing the tyres and the firmer ride pursuaded me against. Tip from the professional detailer I use, NEVER buy the proprietary alloy wheel cleaners such as McQuires etc, they are acidic and will eat away the coating in next to no time. He uses double strength car shampoo and it works just fine as long as you don't allow brake dust to build up as that again pits the coating very quickly.

I wouldn't put a spoiler on it either, definitely "wannabe vRS" - especially in race blue..... (I'm only jealous - after I saw that race blue car yesterday I am beginning to wonder whether I chose the right colour with denim blue.....find out this afternoon when I get to see my own car)!

Never seen an Octy 3 in denim blue but I think it'll suit it well :) make sure your dealer puts your name down for the boot mats that are on back order from SUK

Boot mats? Have you got it right Stokey???

Sorry meant to say boot nets! The reversible boot mat was another advertised feature we didn't get, being blamed on manufacturing difficulties !!

Thanks for the reminder stokey, I'll do that! Must remember to get the kick plates, Mitsumi Apple connection lead and mud flaps as well...

It looks like the first Octy 3 to be picked up is going to be the first to be resprayed :( last night I saw I faint mark in the paintwork of the drivers door, initially it looked like the detailers hadnt polished the whole door, missing the upper quarter around the door handle. I tried rewashing and polishing the whole door but at work today I could still see the Mark in the sun light when looking at an angle to the door so took it to Hortons. Initially the service guy couldn't see the imperfection despite me pointing out the demarkation line once he saw it he immediately took it across the road to the body shop they use. Half an hour latter he was back saying the door needed respraying:( it appears it must have been flashed over at the factory to cover an imperfection but they didn't do the whole door which has left the line which is only visible in direct sunlight when viewed from an angle. They have sent loads of photos off to SUK to get clearance, then they are going to need it for three days. I've made it very clear to Hortons that I don't want any marks on my lovely ivory leather interior. I'm not going to be happy now until the cars back in pristine condition, else I'm not accepting it back, bummer.

Whilst in Hortons I noticed they has a 1.6 TDI SE estate cappochino with the lovely optional 17 in alloys ( which I feel. Are much better than then elegances standard 17 in alloys) and a highly specced 2.0 CR elegance hatchback. I love the Columbus :)

Sooo sorry to here this, I hope they sort it quickly and you are still happy with the car when it is returned!

I saw the high spec Octy too when I picked mine up last week, was loving that sunroof! Rachel did say that Oliver messed up though as he forgot to tick the DSG option but it has most of the other extras so should have really been automatic too! :wall:

It took me from 2.30 to 11.30pm to update my maps on Monday, I hope the process of doing so gets a lot easier than this! Firs having being advised that the maps can only be updated via PC and not mac I had to try and get the wife's old laptop fired up and the download thanks to Lincolnshires c**p broadband speeds took over 4 hours, then I couldn't get the advised soft ware to unzip the download to work so I gave up lol! Only to find on reloading the Previously saved old maps to the SD card the car would no longer recognise them, leaving me with car with no sat nav. Faced with the prospect of ringing the dealer the following morning, when I knew that on previously asking them, they were unaware of how to update the maps I ploughed on. I found a free version of Winzip that successfully unzipped the new maps then it was trail and error playing with the download on the SD card to get the car to recognise it, finally doing so at 11.30. The neighbours must think i was mad going out to the car time and time again throughout the evening.

I hope SUK see sence and just get dealers to do the upgrade whilst the car is in for a service. Another thing it would be much easier if you could update just your home country, as I nearly lost the will to live waiting for it to update the Ukraine etc as Im not planning a holiday in Keiv anytime soon.

It could be even easier with the Amundsen - just exchange the SD card with one that had the latest updates!

All that stress was with the Amundsen, I wouldn't have even attempted to update a Columbus, given the file size of the that in Lincolnshire it would take weeks lol!
