self loading / remote remap (i.e bluefin viezu)... best one out there?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im thinking of getting a remap done on my car.

But looking at the option of a handheld style map so i can do it myself anytime and also like the idea of having access to dtc codes if something is wrong.

Whats the best bang for your buck out there?

Because im in Oz it makes it pretty hard, and also all the australian dealers (like anything VAG related) doing things like bluefin etc seem to put a premium on a tune which you could get the equivalent for half the price in the UK!

Any Suggestions?

Cheers

Andrew

Shark STS unit!

Our STS is available to you, see www.sharkperformance.co.uk/sts.asp

Total cost would be £540.83 + shipping (no VAT to pay as you are a non-EU customer).

DNA tuning, Australia will do the self tuning system like I have.

On a 2011 car, you will likely need ECU removal before any Self loading system can be used unfortunately.

Should be fine with the petrol tfsi. I havent had one that needed the ecu removing yet.

Does the TSi Ecu have to be removed?

In my case - ie MY2011 1.8TSI - the answer is yes. Had I bought a 2.0TSI of the same year, then no.

Does the TSi Ecu have to be removed?

for a 2.0 TSI 12MY no.

My 2011 2.0 Tsi is Shark mapped and I didn't have to remove the ecu

The shark device is not of their own making it's made by alientech in italy and if you search you will find it's their powergate device.

which means nothing, you still would need to get a map for it, having the unit alone is useless.

Quite.

The fact that we use Alientech's unit isn't really relevant, the map is ours, the means of delivering that map is a reliable unit bought from another supplier, which has no bearing at all on the map :)

well ended up getting the v-switch from viezu. They had a good deal.

Had some issues though. On the vehicle selector it only has under skoda octavia the Bosch Me9.1 TFSI. which would not read on the ECU.

But now managed to read it using the BOSCH MED17.X CAN firmware.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I figured that considering my car has the TSi motor not the TFSI motor it would be using the MED17 ECU not the ME9.1 one.

best contact viezu

IME you would not have had this issue with Shark, they'll talk you through the initial set-up if needed.

Well a bit of an update.

Sent the config to Viezu.

That afternoon got my new files.

Got the Max Power road and Power fuel economy blend.

Been a day since i loaded the map to the car.

Derfinitely pulling a lot harder, however there does seem to be a bit of a flat spot when you feather it in traffic...

We'll see how it goes after a few days.
