It's the whole VW group ,I've ordered a golf gti and looking on forums long delays !

But but VW dealer has informed me at the start also this week saying car is still on for December delivery so 17 weeks

Skoda hasn't and we have been waiting 6mths they did honour px price have given us a fabia to drive round in but it's been painful as px payment took 2 weeks!

Skoda have to learn how too keep customers informed and dealer giving honest information at ordering maybe they will

The other thing is that the hatch was never supposed to be delivered/released before the estate which has been in place since goodwood. The delay reportedly due to problems with the spoiler

When I ordered back in July my dealer was fully aware of this and said a hatch delivery wouldn't be until the new year, yet other dealers seem to have been taking orders and quoting the usual 12 weeks. When they've been pulled up on it, its been a case of "oops we didn't know" which IMO is BS!

That coupled with what looks like Skoda limiting the number of vrs's into the uk (allocation) has now ended up with a lot of unhappy customers

Add to that, which vrs advert are they now pushing everyday? The hatch of course! Lol

Am I right in thinking that VW in the States very rarely accept an order from a customer that is a special order i.e. from the factory, from what I have read most models in the US market are all pretty much standard models with little or no room for options etc, just mainly a paint colour option, so therefore they can produce stock in vast quantities and send them to various places in the states for quick dispatch to customers that order a car.

 

Perhaps if the market elsewhere was driven by the manufacturuer in the same way, i.e the car is specc'd to a certain standard and the only choice would be a colour then cars can be built in bulk as stock cars and cars are then just called off on demand.  

 

But until Skoda, VW etc etc stop making monumental **** ups with standard spec cars i.e. not putting on cruise control for example and making customers make a special order for one poxy option then this situation wont change.

 

It doesnt matter who you order a car from you know that you enter a build and delivery lottery and you might get 6 numbers and it turn up quick or you might keep getting two numbers and waiting ages for the 3rd ball to win a tenner!

 

All my recent car orders (VAG companies) have taken an eternity to come through and unfortunately its just something we have to live with!!  My first vRS took 12 weeks, my second vRS took about 26 weeks after teh first car arrived incorrect and I didnt want what had turned up, my wife's Beetle earlier this year was around 15 weeks and yesterday I ordered a vRS Estate which is being put on the Skoda system on Monday as I have asked the dealer to hold from doing that whilst I consider my final options, and no doubt he will quote 12 weeks which is around Xmas, but it may turn up earlier (be nice) or maybe a few weeks later, my only proviso is that my current tax runs out on 31/12 and if I dont have my new one by then, then I will be going into teh dealer on 31/12 handing them my car and driving away in a demo until mine arrives.

 

Unfortunately whilst its a pain in the arse this waiting business (and lots of the fault does lie at Skoda's door for selling stuff (i.e. roofs which they are clearly struggling to supply) and until the supply chain improves then this sort of stuff will continue, also they arent worried about orders being late etc as they know pretty much all cars currently awaiting build are sold, not stock cars sat costing and not earning money!  So Skoda arent too worried, it just frustrates us as customers!

That was recently a factor in a confederacy of stupidity of which I was a part. I'm afraid that a combination of work and some fairly significantly challenging family events meant that I had become only an intermittent visitor to the forum with relatively little time to browse (after all my MkII vRS hatch has been running fine and I wasn't desperate to upgrade, although it was a medium term plan...).

But, there were the vRS hatch ads all over my TV screen, and here was mail, text and phone calls from a localish dealer inviting me to a "VIP" event featuring new and used cars. So without doing my research, I re-arranged my weekend away so that I could attend the event at the dealer's. I booked an appointment, and when they asked about my interests, I said I was interested in buying a new Octavia vRS hatchback. "Splendid" they said, took down my details and allocated me a time last Sunday lunchtime. In retrospect I should have been wary when I asked for a time mid-to-late Sunday afternoon (they advertised 10-4 as available times) and was greeted with "how does 10am sound?" Well, nothing like the afternoon, if you want me to be pedantic...

Anyway, pitched up on Sunday lunchtime 20 minutes before my appointment (the traffic was light) to be greeted by some whippersnapper, who having checked my name was "in the book" asked me what I was interested in. "Well, as I said when I made the appointment, I'm interested in a new a new Octavia vRS hatchback." He then proceeded to take various details before saying, "ah yes, we've got a white one outside on a 12 plate."

Suffice to say it went downhill from there. Obviously they didn't have a new vRS hatchback. They also didn't even have a new vRS estate that I could look at. When I asked what the point of me coming over when they had nothing to show me except a brochure that I could see online, the best they could offer is "well you could always order one blind, that's pretty much what we're having to do." Gee thanks guys. I may have 13 years of happily driving Octavias under my belt, and call me a wuss if you wish, but I'm just not into punting north of 20 grand of my own cash onto something sight unseen. I was out of there before my appointment time even arrived.

So between my lack of preparation, SUK's somewhat bizarre advert timing, and the questionable competence of the dealer, it was the thick end of a 40 mile round trip and an hour plus wasted.

Which I'll agree rather pales against some folks' delivery times on this thread, but it still grates. In the face of such idiocy, it's a testament to the quality and value of Skoda cars that they actually sell so many - and to the people who have the tenacity to buy them despite the best attempts of others not to sell them :wonder:

Surely they don't expect anyone to order "any" car, not just Skodas without having seen it, sat in it, driven it ???

 

I would have been peeved if after being invited to a VIP event they didn't even have the correct car there to sit in and play with !

 

Sadly delivery times are delivery times and if you want a spec outside of their stock builds you gotta wait !

My order for a black vRS tdi estate with panoramic sunroof, winter pack and a couple of other options was placed on 16 Sep 13. My dealer has been given a build date of week 9! He was expecting it to be ready by December 2013!

Hortons in Lincoln had a demo hatch back in June with the Pano Roof, I think they sold it to someone on here after a few weeks of begging the dealer to sell it some time Jul/Aug time so there is defo at least one in the uk!

The hatch is not a true panoroof, as the rear glass section is covered by the roof lining. Only on the estate does rear section let in light. There is a thread with picture here somewhere but I can't find it.

Thanks so it is actual weeks of the year, I never realised that, I had presumed it was weeks in a factory year or something and it was different.

Option - Spare wheel

Option - Variable boot floor

Option - Chrome trim.

 

Got phone call on 1st July - chrome trim no longer available, continued without it, so actual order date is 1st July. I then forgot about it thinking it would be ages...

 

Got phone call from dealer on 10th September - boat has arrived in Tyne Port. Collected vehicle from dealer Friday 19th September. So that makes 12 weeks end to end.

 

The dealer did tell me (of course this could be crap) there are less cars heading for Tyne port for the North of the UK than for Tilbury or Southampton so the boat takes longer to fill up - which can add a week or so.

Mine is going to Sheerness and I've heard the same thing about waiting until they have a full load. It was meant to go last week but will have to wait until this week :-/

My order went through on August 27th and I still don't have a build date!

 

VRS TSI DSG estate combi, sunroof, ACC, kessy and a whole bunch of other options...

Ouch that will be virtually a 6 month delivery time.
