I like the 'Outdoor', could be a contender depending on what the long term plan is for my Scout.

I'm guessing that the Scout name is headed for the scrap heap. With the exception of the Octavia Scout, who knows what it stands for, in the case of the Fabia and Roomster, not much!

With the recent Superb Outdoor being released (UK is denied the jacked up suspension unlike mainland Europe so not sure what the point is for us Brits over a regular Superb 4x4) and now the Yeti Outdoor I would guess that the Octavia Scout is dead, long live the Octavia Outdoor based on the Mk3 Octy when it is finally released.

Ah...  I did not realise this.  OK so if the Superb "Scout" is in fact called the Outdoor...  then by all means keep the Yeti "Scout" as the Outdoor.  The Octy III Scout néé Outdoor is the only car I'd consider other than another Yeti.  BUT alas it is not available yet in the UK.

I'm now going to confess something that will make most people FAINT!

Since the new Outdoor Yeti range will ALL have standard silver mirror caps and I suspect the silver accent on top of the door rubbing strips... and since it has the grey smile out front and the grey tray out back...  I actually think....  how will I say this.....                  ...that the silver and black roof rails suit the Outdoor.

No go on.  All faint in unison.

Wow!!!

A few more tidbits:  In the press release it states:

"The revised ŠKODA Yeti has also received four new “Simply Clever” fittings. The double-sided floor covering in the boot is new in the Yeti but already a hit in various other ŠKODA models. There is also a detachable LED light in the boot, the vest holder under the driver's seat and the waste container in the side door of the Yeti."

From the Octavia brochure.  This is the new High viz vest drawer under the driver's seat as well as the famed "waste container" we are getting in the passenger door pocket:

sc23-emergency-vest-holder-octavia_20130

rapid-i08-trash-bin-01_201307211355.jpg

Also from the same brochure this describes the new Park Assist and how it searches for perpendicular parking bays (my highlighting):

"Automatic Parking Assistant. For those wishing to make both parallel parking and bay parking easier than ever, an Automatic Parking Assistant can be added to Octavia. With a press of a button, the system will begin searching for a parking space in a line of cars or other obstacles. When a suitable space is found (the car’s length + 60cm is all the space needed),the car will steer itself into the space whilst the driver controls the pedals. This system will now also steer the car out of a line of cars from its parking space and with two presses of the same button, the car will search for and manoeuvre into a bay parking space"

So it will finally also get you OUT of tight spots whereas my Park Assist now can only get me into a tight spot.   :giggle:

If Škoda goes for the (expensive) badge powered reversing camera this is what it could look like when open (with a Škoda badge of course!)

Or they could make it simple and just add it to one of the two number plate lights or to the boot opener switch:

And on the Amundsen screen:

I'm sure no one cares but I was waiting eagerly for news of the fl. I liked the round fog lights but I think this is a good update. I now have no excuse now to go and raid the piggy bank. The good news for me is that the dsg is now available in a diesel 2wd so I can save myself the unnecessary expense and weight of the 2 litre lump and the 4wd system. If it's the 7 speed is this the dry clutch version?

Oh, and I like the green though I suspect in the flesh it'll look a little bit too close to nappy fillings. I hope I'm wrong.

Rufty tufty sounds like a good name to me  :giggle:

Worrying as the Superb Outdoor in UK form is another all show noreal outdoor function machine as I understand it, lacking RRP, increased ride height etc. although it does retain 4x4.

To be a real outdoor good ride height, RRP, offroad button, and 16" rims/AT tyres  :giggle:  are required at the very least.

Indeed. If the Superb Outdoor had come with some legs on it I may well have been sitting in one now rather than eeking more life out of the Scout.

Just showed Mrs Fox the pics, they are in Auto Express today.

Verdict: That's a bit normal looking isn't it, where are the round lights?

Me: The white one?

Mrs Fox: No the other one, the white one is a Yeti? I don't want either of those, I hope we are keeping ours. Look, it's the same inside, they've only changed the wheel!

I also think that is the jungle green colour.

I absolutely love this colour! Much better than current Malachite/regency green... :wonder:

Agreed. Would go a treat with the cow muck on the roads around here.

I'm surprised she didnt say: That's white? It looks silver to me

maybe jungle green is the same with the metallic green ,one of options for new Octiavia RS?

We don't have time to be pedantic with each other. ;)

I can now see this is really olive green...  earlier I was just looking at the details and just dismissed the colour as a dirty Muscovado like computer colour.  I don't even register computer colours as I know they might as well have shown it pink for all its accuracy.  So I'll wait and see.  But if it looks anything like in this image then yes I think it is the perfect colour for the Yeti Outdoor range* (and Muscovado of course).

* sounds more like a range of camping chairs and plastic picnic plates to me, but there you go.

I really hope it's not "Outdoor".

What's the other one going to be called, "indoor".

Please Skoda, call it a Scout like the Fabia/Roomster/Octy have!

Howabout calling them Yeti Yin and Yeti Yang?

Alas Richard see post #115 above.  It will be Outdoor it seems.

Likewise just shown Mrs Plumber the offroad picture and she's not taken by it either. She particularly doesn't like the front bumper design around the new fogs and the fact those fogs are no longer round.

TP

I agree that the triangular sticky-out bits (forgive the use of jargon) around the front bumper and the rear number plate seem an example of 'design' over function.

Alas Richard see post #115 above. It will be Outdoor it seems.

From this day forth, I shall be calling the non-Outdoor spec the Indoor.

So, who is up for a Yeti Indoor?

Mostly the same car, lower suspension.

Name just as daft.

PS. There goes my discount... :D

Or the Yeti Ylang ylang?

I like the fact that the Outdoor Yeti has a bit of Sydney Opera house over the fog scooping air in and onto the parking assist sensor residing above the fog.   :giggle:

Just look at the driver's side protrusion (on the left in the image below) over the fog:

uglc.jpg

It looks much lower and subtle than the one on the passenger side (on the right in the image above).  So I think it is just the angle of this image and the lighting that makes it look very pronounced and MASSIVE.  It won't be so in your face on a real car under real llight.
