Parking Distance Control + Stereo

Featured Replies

Hi, gang,

Recently, my stereo has carried on playing at normal volume when I engage reverse with PDC.  It used to cut out so that you could hear the beeps of the PDC for as long as the car was in reverse.

I don't think I've altered anything and I can't find a clue to the solution, either on Columbus or the maxidot.  I haven't been near it with VCDS for nearly a year.

Any clues?

Cheers,

Ned.

liquid spilled in the switch by the gear knob, or switch failed in the on position.

Pressing it cancels the visual and audio indications.

I recall there being a setting on the Columbus. Is that box still ticked? Can't quite remember where it is, so if you can't find it, I'll pop out and have a look.

Found the setting in Tone-Volume Settings-PDC volume control

Mine does that every now & then seemingly at random (which it is).

It does reset it self. Usually.

Mine always leaves stereo/phone call volume on when reversing, so I assume it must be adjustable as stated above.

Mine always goes silent when either the front or back sensors are active.

There are 4 settings that refer to the level of volume dipping when the sensors are activated.

I think whether you have the option on the Columbus depends on the parking sensor module you have.  When I upgraded my parking sensor module to give optical parking display, the setting appeared in the Columbus.

I had a similar message and beep on mine when the wiring to my reverse switch on my Octavia had a loose connection. My reverse lights were also intermittent at the time. Luckily it was very near the switch itself, so easily found, and that fixed the issue.
