This weekend, there has been a reasonably strong Easterly wind, it makes quite a difference :) Your journey West from Warrington would have been strongly wind assisted, and the opposite (obviously) on the way out which makes the difference even more stark)

(I'm a cyclist, so I'm painfully aware of the wind direction and strength on any given day ;) )

now that dave is some good information and would explain it :) weather is one thing we too easily forget about when calculating mpgs

  • Car looks great and a very interesting review. But I must stop reading these new vRS threads as I start slipping into car changing mode again

It's true, the average motorist has no idea what's happening outside the car in terms of wind etc, they/we only know the temperature as it's on the dash :P

Still, those figures you got are pretty good I reckon, I'll be happy with that!

It's when it gets windy IN the car that I worry, especially if there's no one else in the car to blame   :giggle:

Thanks very much for putting up such a good review, I very much enjoyed reading it, and I'm really pleased you're enjoying your new car so much. :) From reading the forum I am suprised more people haven't gone for the petrol TSI. I had the privelidge of borrowing the TDI for a weekend before I ordered, and I was very impressed with it, it was excellent, but I felt the car needed the TSI to really do it justice.

By the way, the race blue is looking fantastic!

just a message to the post owner, just found a review and it shows the vRS complete with cornering fogs...does yours have these ???

Octavia vRS foglights error Brochure and some POS materials contain an error about lights’ specification

The Octavia brochure and some point-of-sale (POS) leaflets about the Octavia vRS contain an error about foglights.

They say cornering foglights with a darkened surround are standard equipment on the Octavia vRS. The standard foglights are not darkened and do not have cornering functionality.

Please make sure customers are aware of this error when handing them brochures and POS leaflets. We will update the brochure as quickly as possible.

There is no way a one year old vRS is worth that money.

Thats what they offered me!!

What did you pay for your VRS a year ago? 17K?

Something like that. Was on that "No VAT" deal.

17K down to 13.5K is a fair enough drop for a first year to be honest. The first year you always loose a lot of money unless the car is very limited. They will want to make around 1K on passing the car on 2K selling it them selves which means it would be up for ~15.5K which is about where they are

That is more like what I was expecting for my Blackline.

July 2012 white vRS DSG Diesel hatch, with black alloys, black alcantara, £15K, not too bad, would of liked a few quid more, but got about 3-4% off the cost of the new one, plus my payments will be less per month, so overall, cant complain.

Looking at the px offered,i dont feel to bad now,62vrs tdi hatch manual,14250 px held until delivery date req of march next year, for a tdi vrs estate, and payments similar,i wanted more as you do,but not too bad,il end end up with some freebies on pick up day

Trouble is that even that is wrong as they do have darkened surrounds....

Mine was a manual box though and no sat-nav.

Superb review by OP.

Must admit to changing a bit too often (like every 6/9 months) - but hey, what the heck - at 61 I need some excitement back in my life!
