cars back from the garage, all fixed, steering back in a straight line! thank God! lol.... I know it doesn't seem like much, but it was really bugging me! glad to have it back right again :)

Are you still going to do the Hunter alignment?

  • Author

no.... all the suspension is set up perfectly, it was the subframe moving that knocked it out, (nothing on the suspention was touched) if the subframe is back in the right place, the suspention is set correctly..... I will see how it feels (but it drove better with the bar on and the steering wheel wonky!lol) and keep an eye on tyre wear ect ..... but I dont want to change what aint broke!

to be fair, the first test will be at castle coomb I guess!

the correct pads arrived today... for peoples information, the part number for the vRS is DP41517R for ATE calipers.

cheapy pads (£18) are working fine on the road, I dont think I will put the yellowstuff in until the first track day at castle coomb :) may as well save them for the madness!

How are your rotors doing Dave?

  • Author

the originals would have been fine had I not been running metal against metal... so I changed them when I put the cheap pads on. They were still thick enough, just a bit grooved.

Looks good. Needs mudflaps

It's no good, I fitted mudflaps to my cat (bugger of a job BTW) and he still leaves muddy pawprints all over the kitchen.

Yeah I want some if those very flexible rally style ones, but the company that makes them only makes for the monte hatch!! I may try some generic ones, and add a sticker or two :)

And yetikent, I actually "laughed out loud" at that! Lol

I ordered mud flaps for my estate. At the time they said they wouldn't fit but they do. There's part numbers buried in the forums somewhere

I've just fitted the standard ones on mine and they're fine

I think Dave is after the Rally Flaps though

yup rally style ones with maybe the sticker I have on my wing mirrors on....

rally style mudflaps ordered, I will try to get them on before ultimate dubs!

HAve you got a link to the spacers Dave?

Take some photos from a distance showing the whole car as I am keen to see how she "sits" on the road now :)

  • Author

will do jab.... I got the spacers by putting wanted ads up on here, as I found the cheap ones for sale scary, and the "proper" ones too expensive! (wanted add said 5x100 spacers wanted)

two people helped, fronts are 15mm with longer bolts, that just go through, rears (from a drifferent person!) are 20 mm, they bolt onto the hub, then other bolts bolt into the spacer! I have gone a little more extream than the others who have done it, but I like the look... need mudflaps though, and here they are!

proper MSA approved rally mudflaps (from some ebay rally shop) so I have "real" ones! lol.... just need to get the rear wheels off again, and cut these to shape properly , and get them fixed on! maybe not as easy as it seems! lol... they came with brackets, but no screws! I may see if I can fashion using the exsisting screws in the plastic arches ect ...... they are a little heavy though!

will really complete the look at the rear though :)

car is at the garage, BRK7's going in!

Could you post the photos of the ones coming out?

Looking forward to seeing the rally style mud flaps [emoji106]

sure, I will be sending them back to skoda with a letter explaining my frustration that skoda keep replacing plugs that are not fit for purpose with the same plugs, then of course (suprise suprise) the same problems happening.

I was hoping to get them on before ultimate dubs this weekend, but I doubt I will have the time or oppertunity! :(
