  • Insurance renewal time :( Now I had a big heavy slate fall off my roof and hit my car in the winter storms.... this cost £1500 to repair, I was dreading renewal time, as I knew they would sting me, as

should be picking one up on friday from a member off here, going to buy the relavant polybushes too.... just awaiting a call from larkspeed, as in their listing for the bar, it says its designed for H&R coilovers, and the car needs to be 50mm lower to fit... but i'm SURE sy had one on his with eibachs... (just a ploy to sell the coilovers?)  the polybushes for this re £60 odd quid! :o but I'd be stupid not to do them now right? as I will polybush it all eventually, and while the bar is off.... well.

Polybushes for the bar?  Does it not come with bushes like the RARB?

Or are you doing a front end running gear kit?

  • Author

no, cant afford that yet, dont think it comes with bushes, think you are supposed to use exsisting ones, but I may as well upgrade if they are coming out.....

I'm very confused. some say the bar is 20mm some say its 22mm... some say it comes with bushes, others say it doesn't , some say it will only fit if in conjunction with coilovers at 50mm lower or it will foul the driveshafts, others that its a direct replacement.!

lol.. cant get my head round it, awaiting replys from H&R and Sy... ;)

Let us know when you get them, the replies.

What benefits are there to fitting a farb? If a rarb improves turn in, will a farb not level it back out again? Or am I missing something?

its not as simple as plus 1 - 1 = 0 .....

the rear bar improves the handling by reducing roll and the weight shifted.....

putting the front bar on doesn't put the roll back and bring in the understeer, it reduces roll even more, reducing the weight shifted even more, improving the handling even more....

they were developed as a pair by H&R... people just tend to fit the rear as its easy ,cheaper,  and has good improvements :)

larkspeed were talking tosh, because the bar they have for sale is the "special" one with shortened droplinks designed for coilovers.... this is the reply I got from H&R ..

Nice :)

Will need a ride in this once it's done :)

welll I have to do something, seeing as everyone else car (including yours) seems to be getting faster! lol... or I'll be left behind on the track! :o

I expect it be like a touring car after this is fitted! lol...... I want to lift front wheels as well as rear wheels ;)

this was an easy addition, as my insurance company listed my RARB as "anti roll bars" so when I asked, they said "yeah you can upgrade the front one, no cost" :)

plus it was a nice price from a friendly brisky member :)

Mines as fast as it's going to get now. Unless I win the darkside's raffle for the GTB turbo :D

Yours already shifts and your a good driver to boot. That's what I need to work on next

to be fair, you know what my biggest time gain was ? tyres! lol.... but you have already sussed that...

the instructor sessions I had at oulton park really helped... trail braking ect ... lines...... all good stuff you never learn on the road!

your car is proper sorted now charlie, drive it well and you should be able to be very fast  its very well set up now :) I have enjoyed your build thread :)

the FARB for me should help, I remember in sy's build thread, he just had spring and both bars and said it "transformed" the car.... so I hope it improves things :)

next will be poly bushing, then the (expensive) bilstiens!

Both anti roll bars really do help :)

I've got the white line on mine. It's adjustable, but I still haven't got a clue which setting is which lol

Doesn't roll much at all :)

If I ever save up enough would love to try coilovers with adjustable dampening :)

Dohhh...will I ever be able to catch up with You Dave...? Liking the FARB idea. I was thinking about doing the same when upgrading my suspension but I wanted to test the Coilovers and RARB first

one thing I wont be doing is coilovers, its as low as its going to get , and even now it wont go up kerbs forwards, it would take the splitter out! (I still have learners driving it remember! lol) I will do everything else I can , just without going lower, hence the expensive bilstiens! lol...

Coilovers unless setup properly are always a compromise.

A well matched pair of dampers and springs will give better results :)

well the bilstiens are matched to the eibachs, they are sold together at the B12 kit, I just need the B8 dampers to complete that part of it :)

I would only ever get coilovers set up properly. Not interested in slamming it :)

Showing Off.... :p

what polybushes are you changing out Dave?  Front running gear?

  • Author

just the bar sparkly (for now) as its a real ball ache to change (drop the front subframe ect) I would be stupid to use standard bushes when I intend to polybush the whole car at some point.... so I thought I may as well do the bar while its out! should make it stiffer of course too :)

Yep, bit more involved than the rear which is a doddle :)

Good to see you are finally putting some good aussie made parts (Superpro Bushes) on to your Fabia Dave.

I believe the HP Performance F+R arb's and bushes on my car are Superpro but sold as HP parts as they are both from Brisbane. In reality HP is just the ARP Australia workshop/distributor.
