Cheers for the useful info lads

PS I hope everyone who preaches about the grey areas (yes we are all entitled to our opinion) is as squeaky clean themselves and practices what they preach. e.g. if you have made any slight modifications to your car please make sure you go through every little term and condition on the contract you agreed when buying the car and if there is any little discrepancy don't even think about taking the car back to the dealership for a recall or issue, however mundane  . Together we will make this world a better more trustworthy place because all of these big global companies are so open and honest to all of us!!

Much of what people say, me included is tongue in cheek. Of course, as individuals  we all lie, cheat and deceive from time to time and so do companies.  We are also free to make our own choices.

Where people do need to be careful is with their insurer and making absolutely sure that they're fully covered.  If their car ends up in a ditch, or worse under a lorry or in the middle of a pile up we all know how much time and effort they put into finding reasons not to pay and fiddling under the bonnet to remove a device would obviously not be possible. Whilst this is a chance that people may take themselves, in reality, having insurance which doesn't cover them, their passengers and other road users is just as irresponsible as having none which I'm sure no one condones in this day and age. I'm sure there's plenty of advice on talking to insurers to ensure that cover is complete and still valid. I'm also sure DTUK would happily provide this too as they seem be fairly supportive from what people say.

I enjoy my car as it is. If it wasn't  fast or sporty enough, I wouldn't have bought one but I realise that getting maximum power and efficiency from a unit is something that many people enjoy. Whatever you do, enjoy.

Glad that the comment was just tongue and cheek tbh as were all grown ups here and know the score whether we leave the car standard or try to iron out the personal imperfections with the car or simply want to make a car different from every other on the road.

Dont want this thread to get taken over by the legalities etc. its just great to see companies being up to date with new engine tuning and also being willing to discuss on this forum in person and prove their claims.

I fitted one of these boxes yesterday too.  The current map makes such a difference. Looking forward to trying out the different maps though :D

Some feedback from our local golf gtd owner...

Aye I must admit that the box has brought out the boy racer in me at times, and greater enjoyment every time I use the car. I haven't enjoyed a car so much since I had use of my boss's Ford Granada Scorpio Cosworth for 2 weeks as a 19 year old when he went on holiday!

When the car has this much go, you forget about chasing the mpg so much (not that I am any worse off with the box on) and just learn to enjoy the extra performance with very little fuel penalty. GTD mpg and GTI exceeding performance - the best of both worlds.

The right box has made such a difference. Not only loads more power and torque, but usable torque and power, with a natural feeling of progressive delivery.

I've got to get my car booked in to the dealership for a door realignment (the rubbers between the front and back passenger doors slightly rub when the front door is opened) - going back to stock for a day or 2 is going to be hard!

we've been asked by a couple of members on how best to route the cables.

engine minus the engine cover with the cables installed

I've highlighted the common rail plus boost connections, the yellow indicates part of the factory loom that. I usually route the common rail part of the loom underneath this to secure the cable in place.

good but can I suggest you turn the box the other way with the plug looking down. like that you'll be able to put some velcro between the box and the airbox. easy to install or take away each time !

Cheers although will you not do a standard map with oem exhaust or is that the 270ps you have showing for the 220bhp Octavia 3 greentec?

Yeah the FSR and FSR+ are both available at present but come with a stage 1 tune only, once an exhaust is released the FSR+ can be upgraded to suit the stage 2 set up :)

any new words from people running the kit here ?

Box bought and fitted today on my vRS TDI. Only had a quick chance for a run around the block but the difference is obvious even on a short run on some A + B roads at NSL. Most obvious thing to me was the throttle response, much more responsive and more pull. Just as is so wanted to ask Andrew will I have received the box in what you've found to be the optimal set up? In as received does this make the claimed figures?

Took me <5 mins to fix. Will provide more feedback when I've used it for longer.

Surely you'd get a quicker and better response by calling him rather than posting on here?

Looking forward to seeing how your mpg is affected - obviously after you've got used to wanting to go everywhere at warp speed! :giggle:

Hi Andrew

I've just replied to your email, we've been really busy today and didn't get chance to reply.

I ran our own vRS on map 4 plus 1 and this produced the 240ps and 505nm :)

Surely you'd get a quicker and better response by calling him rather than posting on here?

I've spoke to Andrew, just thought it may be useful info for readers of this thread to provide the Q and subsequent A.

As I've since found out I'll need to pop the cover off the box to confirm what it's currently set to.

ETA

600 mile round trip coming up this Easter weekend to visit family, mix of motorways, dual carriage ways, A roads and twisty B roads so will report back on MPG.

some feedback from a recent vRS customer..

Diesel Tuning Testimonials - Impressive CRD-t Box Skoda Octavia Iii VRS 184ps

Testimonials » Impressive CRD-t Box Skoda Octavia Iii VRS 184ps

From Ryan S - 16th Apr 14

Hi there,

I recently decided to order a CRD- stage2 box for my MK3 skoda octavia VRS TDI.

So far its the best add on, on a new car I can think of!

*Excellent Customer service from the start with a enquiry about the best options and price for my cars box.

* top notch dispatch and delivery Arrived first thing next morning!

*within 5 minutes the wiring loom was fitted as per the excellent instructions provided.

* A quick call to DTUK to confirm I had placed everything correctly.

*connected the box which had arrived pre-set.

*powered up my car and allowed to warm up fully ..........

*then brace yourself for an absolute transformation!!

I could not believe the instant gains in speed and power delivery for something so easy to fit!

Car+DTUK= race car ;)

Id disagree, i have 2 customers that run identical Hyundai Santa Fe's (2.2 197ps). They're 2 brothers and 1 lives in Kent, and the other just outside of Newcastle. about a year ago we sold a kit to the brother from Kent that was already achieving 48mpg (calculated), after installing the kit his calculated mpg was, and is 64mpg!!!! Did i believe him? Erm no i didn't.. 6 months later his brother who lives in newcastle popped in and yet again we added the same kit to his identical motor. 3 months later this same guy popped back in with a load of bits of paper that he has used to manually calculate his fuel figures, and yet again he was achieving 62.8mpg.

So you may ask, did i believe him then? Yes i did, and i do but this is the first time i have mentioned this publicly as i have a feeling that 99% of people reading this would call me a liar..

Interesting; I have the 2008 155 PS manual model and quite frankly it needs a shot of something as it accelerates like a ground sloth and MPG hovers around 30 on the daily commute. It's now out of warranty and once I find out the insurance uplift from fitting a box I'll decide whether to go for one. I considered one a few years ago but decided against it due to the potential for warranty issues and lingering concerns on components prematurely wearing out. When the clutch went spectacularly at 45K miles 3 weeks after the warranty ran out (I kid you not) those concerns were put in context. Sure, even more power might make things wear out quicker but then again more gentle pulling away in gear with higher torque could help. I'm willing to take a punt in that regard. Note that the first and second gears are incredibly short so too much power might be a problem to deal with unless the mapping compensates.

Anyhow, back to the 184 ps thread. Given that Andrew's perfect car is 4x4 etc what about remapping the 150PS Octavia combi or maybe one of the 170 PS DSG diesel 4x4 Superbs? It would be fun to get one of those close to the Superb V6 4x4 which I believe has a quoted 6 point something 0-60 but a rather unspectacular MPG.

Hey Andrew, my sis picked the car up this week and is landed with it just wondering as its brand new what sort of mileage she should be putting on it before fitting the remap? Im guessing a thousand or so should be ample?

We'd usually suggest leaving it until you have 1.000 miles on the clock before adding the kit

Returned from a 600 odd mile round trip up to the West Coast of Scotland so feel better placed to offer a better write up of the box.

I realised during conversations with Andrew I was on 3 + 1 and not the 4 + 1 config that got DTUK there figures on the rolling road. When I first got the car within a few hours of getting the key I had a 3 hour run to the airport and was very impressed in stock form with the pulling power on the motorway, the box really amplifies this to go from 80 to 100 leptons is effortless in 6th and didn't push it but there was plenty left to go.

Going from 3+1 to 4+1 in 5th or 6th from low revs putting my foot down I did notice some vibration that didn't occur in 3+1. I found it happened if I was sat at about 40 mph if I wanted to accelerate then I'd get the vibration.

I filled up while I up there so haven't had a chance to do a true MPG but the computer was showing 64 mpg, which I'll be impressed with if the true figure is anywhere near that on the motorway I was cruising at around 80. I'm on 2K miles so perhaps things are starting to loosen up.

Onto the A roads and the extra power and torque is blatant and useful making overtakes effortless.

All in all my opinion is it makes a very good car into a better one. The power is very useable and the car benefits from that extra oomph.

Has anyone dyno'ed and got figures for the 4+2 map? I've been back quite a few pages and can only find 4+1 figures.

PS: Just ordered so can't wait to get it fitted!

not trying to rain on anyones parade here, but is anyone aware of what torque the stock clutch is rated for?

Is the MPG system built in completely useless with this installed or is there a way of correcting it? I did a journey last night 1/2 the way round the M25 and back including a tiny 5 minute bit of town driving at both ends and ended up with a 71MPG average compared to 58MPG doing it last week.

I know the box is meant to improve MPG when not heavy on the right foot (which I wasn't and was driving with economy in mind the whole way) but don't think it could increase it that much!
