After reading this thread I took an RS hatch for another test drive over the weekend.  To me it sounded like a pressure build up but I've not noticed it on earlier drives.  I felt like I had to keep releasing the pressure in my ears.  I am not sure if that was caused by the car as I'm halfway through a cold...  definitely a noisy car when going over even small bumps on the road.  I tried driving with the hatch open but on the latch and it seemed a little better but then I could see the hatch moving up and down and it seemed that everytime the hatch moved down the pressure would build up.  I could not be sure but the hatch has a huge surface area.  Driving with all windows down seemed to make it go away but perhaps I could not hear the resonance over the wind noise.  When closing the boot I also could not hear the pressure flaps opening (I can hear them doing their thing on my current vRS) so I'm wondering if that is the issue.

My dealer has submitted a DISS report to Skoda for the fact that closing the boot firmly on the hatch causes the filler flap to open due to a pressure build up. The flaps are open on mine apparently. They tried 3 other hatches straight from the factory and they do the same.

So presumably with the vents open on yours, you no longer suffer the build up of pressure or the fuel flap flying open? Or do you still have the problem?

Fuel filler flap still opens. No booming, that only happened for a day or two at the most.

How odd. Thats certainly a coincidence, as you dont hear much about this problem, and i certainly dont have it.

Yet one dealer manages to have 3 cars that have it.

Fingers crossed they manage to sort out your problem though.

The word back from the factory today is that it is perfectly normal for the fuel filler flap to pop open every time you shut the boot with the doors already unlocked.

what....seriously?? This is ridiculous what kind of answer is this, they can't be serious

So if the doors are locked and you slam to boot, fuel fillercap doesnt open?  :D

Nope, because the fuel filler flap is also locked. If you just use the middle button to open the boot from locked it is fine. If the car is unlocked and you open and close the boot the fuel filler flap pops open. Not every time, but often enough that it means you have to check it.

Lol, idiots! So all the cars that the filler cap doesn't pop open on are faulty? Best get mine booked in! :D

I still dont get it how is this normal?

So after closing boot, you have to close the fillercap as well ? (the one which you didnt want to open in the first place)

mine hasnt popped open yet when I slam the boot with the car unlocked ???

Like I said these cars are still bloody prototypes released in a rush!

So if you slam the fuel filler does the boot pop open? :notme:

Thats what im thinking.

Andy, let us know what dealer you are using, and we'll go to them asking to book our car in because the filler cap doesnt pop open when the boot closes.

The laughter from them should hopefully change when we tell them why we assume there is a fault :D

If only id known sooner. Was up in rainy Lancs a few days back.

I get the impression you may be right.

The thing that mucks up the guys/ girls with obvious problems though, is the fact so many cars are fault free. So the company just seem to be wiping their hands of the problems.

Too right they are, and the factory make the dealers jump through stupid hoops before they authorise any work, so the car either ends up staying with them for days on end or multiple revisits.

Correct.

The whole thing is farcical.

Apparently puddle lights that stay on for an hour after locking the car isn't an indication of a fault either.

Ah no that's a software glitch, not the same thing at all :D

Maybe the puddle lights stay on when they detect that the door has just dumped a load of water on the floor under the mirrors. :rain:

Tried drivers side rear seat down today and the reverb is a lot less. Alternating with the other side made no difference so something to do with the weight of that seat or the ski hatch surround maybe on that side. If you hit the seat with it up the noise replicates like what it does when driving and its not hitting the parcel shelf behind it either so the seat makes the noise.

Still has the above average suspension noise over bumps which I think all the cars must have but the echo has greatly reduced. Now I have to figure out why.

I think that with good damping of boot area (silent coat, dynamat) the noise will be much lower, because as I saw, under carpet the boot area is plain metal without any isolation or dumping stickers. When you hit carpet in the boot area, you get the noise like you hit the drum (same dull noise).

I've ordered 4 Dynamat extreme 18" x 32" sheets via a popular auction site so will fit them to the boot area and see if it helps. I've got the rubber floor mat though so would have thought that should be a good start so will try the wheel arches for now given I generally get the issue going over bumps etc at lower speeds. It's not cheap though that's for sure!

I have had my vrs estate for a week, it's a fantastic car but something is very, very wrong.

I have had trouble and pain with my ears affecting my balance ever since I received the car, when driving it, it feels like I have my fingers in my ears as the pressure just builds and builds, you can sense it. When you open the drivers side window I can feel the pressure in my right ear dropping! The air just isn't escaping from the cabin, I do not get the 'booms' people are talking about but has anyone else suffered this cabin pressure?

Yes. I suffered the same experience on my first test drive. Drove two more and it didn't do it, so I decided to buy. Luckily mine doesn't do it either. Effect my ears on the first test drive was like a slow decent in a plane, very painful.
