Next stop 19s

Have you seen the cost difference in tyres, 19's are about 65% more expensive than 18's & thats on the same manufacturer, model, width of the tyre.

Its not even a wider tyre, thats why my 19's wheels will come off the car when the supplied tyres are worn out.

What? Where are you taking those numbers from?

Maybe for some specific tyre brand or dealer.

Also, the 19's on the Skoda work better in 235/35/19, which is a much more common size and with much better prices...

Costco retailer.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4

I'll price up some R19/235/35's & see what the prices are like

Might just sell the 19 black extremes instead, gotta be worth a coupla quid

So you would recommend 235/35's over the 225? I know they would fit the 19 inch Xtreame's but do you have to inform insurance company if you change tyre size?

I am in Finland, so I cannot comment how it works on other places.

In here, you take the car to a MOT agency, they will check it and then write it into the car's register as an accepted size for your car.

The insurance company doesn't care, provided it is legal and approved by a MOT agency.

I use the Finnish specific site of this company to get price references for tyres, but here is the UK one:

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/

I can usually get very similar prices or even slightly lower from a couple of retailers in here, but depends on the brands -  different retailers have better prices for certain brands.

But 65% price difference between 18" and 19" for same tyre radius? Never...

I guess you are not trying to compare potatoes with apples, right? ;)

I just went to check the Michelin website and the Pilot Sport 4 is only available in some weird sizes for 19" - I guess the higher price you got was for the Pilot Sport 4S, which is a different (better) tyre and therefore, more expensive.

Also, it seems the 4S is not available for any size smaller than 19".

Take a look here:

http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-pilot-sport-4

http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-pilot-sport-4-s

...and I promise this is the last Off-Topic I post in this thread for this subject ;)

Parked, as usual, in the slot with no-one either side......

......looked back from the office 2 mins later, someone has slid in next to me. Typical!

Is it just me?

I've been wondering the same thing.

Once I left my car on a remote corner of a big parking lot, there were 48 empty spots around me.

When I got back there were only 47 empty spots and a car right next to mine.

I can not understand why.

Take up 2 spaces. There is always some **** that parks next to a cherished car.

Don't know why car park lining is still based on Ford Anglia size cars.

Just another general annoyance like the state of our 'roads'.

Yea those SS black rear text I've thinked of buying. Yes I could dip those originals black but I don't have so good experiences with plastidip. So easiest way is to replace those with black ones.

And badges/badgeless is everyones own deal and that's why I said it was only my opinion.

When I look at the front of the FL MkIII it just looks so completely bad. Can't believe they would sign that off at the design stage.

They have ruined the lines on the front of the car.

Guess I will be keeping my MkIII for a little longer as I would never buy that model.
