Fabia VRS mk1 decat?

Featured Replies

How could you make the fabia VRS sound better without effecting speed etc or failing mot on emissions such as decat the exhaust? an air filter would probably sound shocking

Chop the back box off and put a straight pipe in, I've done that, air filter and decat, sounds pretty decent tbf.

Yeah, any kinda cat back exhaust

Decat just effects idle noise nothing else it does next to nothing for performance either - I've done it on my car.

Wouldn't say it effects just idle noise atall, i have had just cat back 0 box and now decat with 0 box system and the sound difference on boost is like night and day.

Mine 100 percent sounds different at idle and not in a good way, it's more of a tinny air noise.

This is just a mapped car with stock exhaust and decat.

Yes mine sounds like a wet fart on idle but you said just effects idle noise, i personally found it effected the noise all through the rev range.

Ha that's a good explanation it does sound like that.

Decat won't fail the MOT..

Deffo agree it's not just idle noise, im running a decat 0 box system and yes you do get the turbo whistle on idle but on boost it's more like a petrol it growls and sounds awesome. Quite loud and deffo worth the jet engine sound on idle for the sound of it on boost

Diesels aren't tested for emissions

any one got any links??

They just do a smoke test for dervs...

I'm getting a little scared for the MOT now as doesn't it have to be visually there? I've got through a few MOT's in the past as i've just gutted the cat out but now on my exhaust there is absolutely nothing there just straight through pipe all the way to the tip. My MOT tester in incredibly friendly thought so i'm sure it won't be an issue but i'm still a little apprehensive.

It doesnt need to be there no.

Unless its a petrol car obviously itll need a sports cat or the standard car replacing back in for the mot.

Diesels only need it to pass the initial emissions when the car is built and tested for the tax band co2 and whatnot

To answer the original question, despite the various arguments that have occurred over and over again, it'll sound bitterly disappointing whatever you do as it has a diesel engine. I have a full de-catted turbo back Miltek on mine and it sounds like a tractor on acid. Last night I gave it the beans through a tunnel and all that happened was it sounded pants and I looked like a massive plum.

My words may be deemed harsh, but they say the truth hurts.

No your words arnt harsh they are just your personal opinion. Not everyone thinks the same, most will think idle is awful and some will not like it when ever but I know lots who are happy with there system and people have commented on how mine sounds on full throttle and not just friends, I had people compliment the sound at gti international on the drag strip saying it sounded great up the drag strip. Like I said some probably thought it sounded awful but not everyone thinks like you do.

Does it tan juice when its fully de-catted?

Mine doesn't use any more fuel really, it might to start with because you'll keep ragging it for the noise but that's down to you and not the decat. As I've already said I've not had one person say mine sounds **** on boost. It didn't sound the best before it was mapped but not shocking.

+1 for that, actually like the sound of mine tbf and also had a few compliments off people when I've driven past them. If you don't like the sound of a diesel surely you wouldn't bother wasting money and putting an exhaust on anyways would you? Ha.

Cat needs to be visable for MOT now on petrol and diesel. This is why I only got the milltek cat back not a turbo back.

Depends who you know matt ;)
