Used FL Octy vRS's

Featured Replies

I'm spending £150 a month right now working out at a real world 57mpg on a 34 mikes round trip.

Vrs would take that over £230 a month in fuel alone, insurance up £8 a month.

Looking at a larger diesel. Maybe Octavia VRS. But also starting to look at Superbs too - love the twindoor!!

Your fuel consumption in the fabia is fairly low, even doing a track day mine ever dropped that low. So my point is the octavia will be worse.

See my sig for the average fuel consumption, that's including town driving and motorway work.

I don't agree the dsg and diesel do not mix, I think they work well together. Either do I agree the Octavia is dull to drive. Yes it's a world of difference in refinement compared to the fabia, which does give a slight sense of dullness as you've not got the noise and bumps etc.

Yes I miss my old mk1 fabia vRS but I wouldn't want to swap my octavia for one.

But I'm going from a Mk2 Fabia vRS to a manual Mk2 FL CR Octavia vRS Estate. Once in a blue moon I'll see an indicated 40mpg. I've seen 10mpg on a trackday

Think I've just found one for sale that should be a good one. If the dealer gets back to me I'll be going for a look Saturday. It's a 59 plate, white, 42000 miles, front and rear sensors for just under £12k. Is a little high for the year but mileage is fine and it will be getting a lot more anyway. Anything to look out for?

Mine should be available in about 3 months time if anyone's interested - CR vRS Estate manual with lot's of extras and about 44K miles. It's a June 2010.

Have a read on this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/293940-which-car-to-buy-calculator/

I'll upload a revised version to my web space later tonight.

I've been surprised how little difference there is between a diesel & petrol in my circumstances. Try it for yours and see if you feel it's actually worth worrying about or not.

Admittedly, getting over the psychology of the mpg display on the car is going to be a hard one if you go for petrol. And the VED bill.

Thanks for the link and for your calculator - I had made one myself that incorporated servicing costs too, and was surprised at the fact that the difference at points was in favour of petrol!

Unfortunately it's a definite diesel win for me now - the figures in your spreadsheet I downloaded were very wrong for me but once adjusted came up with a very similar result.

I might be, are you anywhere near Manchester?
