Reliability/build quality issues?

Oh yes, I'd forgot that. To be fair, it was hideous. Cancel my order for a valet, I'll do it myself.

To be fair, they've done it a few times since and it's been okay, not amazing but ok.

I think they learnt their lesson maybe.

However, they still haven't replied about my car going back in for repairs.

Have you purchased the car on a PCP deal?

If so, I'd be inclined to say- "Thankyou, I will use that £400 to reduce my final payment, afterall, that's still within the Skoda group isn't it?"

See what they say to that.

Good suggestion but I won't be planning on keeping said car. It's been awful so far and based on its current problem ratio things are not looking good for the future..

So...

Cars booked in at another dealer.

And something else broke. I was bored sitting around waiting so fiddled with the settings, turned the driver fatigue warning off and... It won't turn back on.

The whole driver assist menu is unavailable.

Another safety aystem failure! How nice.

If it ain't broke then.....

This was just the menus on the infotainment. Must of alreasy been broken.

Oh bugger! Not a good sign.

Good job skoda don't make airplanes.

Not an Octavia but my Rapid Sport is in the dealer for the 3rd time for the same thing and to be honest I can see a rejection looming. They would of had there 3 chances to do it and if I'm honest I'll be glad to see it go [emoji106]

My MK2 Octavia tdi was the best car they ever made in my opinion. I had it from new (2006) until 2014 and it had 70K on the clock. Never had no warranty work and only servicing done. Very well made cars they were back then.

The Rapid isn't but my Citigo is passable.

What's up with the rapid?

The fuel gauge is inaccurate and its always fluctuating. They've scanned it twice and its the usual BS of no fault found. SUK have advised them to do block tests and resistance checks between sender unit and instrument cluster and replace as necessary. They should've done this the first time but just mess me around. So I've been very firm with them about it this time.

I'm on my fourth Octavia - all bought brand new - (obviously this is the first Oct 3), and this is the third that has had to go back within days of getting it due to a niggly fault.

Previously, the fault has been the rear windscreen wiper not working, but this time, I wasn't even off the forecourt when the salesman and I discovered, to his acute embarrassment and my no surprise, that the overhead glasses compartment won't shut...

As before, the dealership has snapped into action to correct it in the next week, but if I didn't love Skodas as much as I do, and wasn't used to it by now, I'd be wondering how thorough the factory examinations actually are. Sigh....

Can it be spent on servicing?

The £500 I've had from them can be, which suits me just fine.

I'd be asking why they didn't pick this up at PDI. They should do a road test as part of the PDI, and the valeters will have been all over the car as well.

If they missed that what else have they missed?

Yikes! You're right. Last time round they also missed the not inconsequential fact that the flashing lights also came on at random occasions - took them four weeks to sort it out, but gave me a lovely courtesy car... But, joking apart, it makes you think...

Scary that it is becoming apparent that care and attention is wainig. Im sure my dealer told me they are being pressed to meet VAG sales targets and unfortunately some cars are sold without being fully checked over. This happened to me thus i have requested all the PDI paperwork for my car so I can check who signed it all as being satisfactory.

I would be carefully checking tyre pressures and all fluid levels as well as checking that transport blocks have been removed from the front shocks.

Car never went in. The alternative dealer turned up at my work this morning with the loan car and told me their insurance only covers over 25 (I'm 23).

SUK AND VWFS have initially declined me a loan car from them, as they do not do them apparently.

It's now going down the route of an independent inspection, but I haven't heard back on that one yet.

Can you hire a replacement car and back charge SUK/VWFS?

Apparently not. VWFS case handler (a new one at that) was looking into SUK providing a car but wasn't hopeful.

I'm going to start using such phrases as "financial ombuddsman" and "sale of goods act" if they don't get something sorted by tomorrow!

Its worrying that you have now had problems on two cars. But then there are some of us who have never had a single problem. Makes me feel quite bad.

Don't think Skoda realise when someone has to replace their first car, that is Skoda in last chance saloon with that customer. To go through more problems second time round, well, that's a customer lost.

Next car will probably be a ford ranger... In fact I've been tempted to chop the skoda in a few times already! Just don't want to give anyone this lemon.

This one?

High power draw while car is off, logged in the vehicle fault memory since day 1, and shown on the infotainment system a few months later.

Lights stayed on when switch was off once.

Randomly have a red X under the status menu of start stop.

Infotainment screen randomly doesn't work, but hard buttons do.

And "start stop error" coming up on the dash.

Then vindis and SUK "fixed it" and since the TPMS doesn't work, the mode selection switch doesn't work and the driver assistance menu isn't accessable.

All the original faults are still there too.
