Out of interest, what is the attraction of a flat bottomed sterring wheel.

I mean, you don't actually hold that bit do you?

  • I like the black grill and roof, not so sure on the black wing mirrors. Something is lacking with this incarnation of the sport. It just doesn't look quite right with out the bonnet and roof stripes.

  • That's because it looks virtually identical to our Sport's, but that someone's bashed the bottom of the wheel with a hammer

  • Skoda use "publicity shots" and photoshops that feature suspension lower than the real cars. It makes them look better.   Have a look at the Rapid etc...  the pics look good, while the actual cars

because it makes it look like a F1 racing driver!!

I like the interior. A lot.

I'd like to see that stated in the new brochure. :D

My missus's previous car had one, and it felt weird doing lock to lock turns when you let it slip through your hands

looked good, but didn't feel as nice as a proper wheel

nah they are the ones which they dropped when building the sports

"oh no we have all these flat bottomed steering wheels, what do we do with them?!"

What I don't get is all this hype over a couple of stickets and different wheels (I don't do Bling or what ever you call it). How to reel in the punters for a couple of extra bits of plastic and no more power, Yet they will all end up looking the same?

Discuss?

Does having stripes and black wheels promote the boy (or girl) racer mode against another stripy car? :)

Heated seats and stop start too judging by the interior photo

I wouldn't bank too much on the specs.. let's see what we get here once it's been through the SUK firewall. Afterall the Sport was available in CZ with 75BHP and Greentec...

It's a sportier looking car retaining the same low running costs as the "normal" versions.

Not for everyone I'm sure, but at least they're giving us the option :)

Fabia Monte Carlo has been pretty successful.

My two-penneth:

I like the 'melted' steering wheel look - it appears to be pitted leather unlike the harder material on the outgoing Sport wheel.

Interesting how the Monte Carlo side-badges are on the rear glass not the central pillar. I think I prefer the Sport badges near the indicator repeater, but maybe the specs will change.

I can't imagine this being a production model and NOT having the normal rear SKODA and CITIGO badging.

The black grille surround. The jury on these forums has always been out on whether it looks good or not on the Sport model.

Can't believe they STILL haven't fitted alloy pedals (the other Monte's all get them).

Those Serpens won't be standard - I think.

All in all it seems to me like Skoda have spread the Monte sub-brand to the Yeti and Rapid and then tweaked the current Sport model in a kinda half-arsed way to get a Citigo MC model as part of the line-up. If it had wheel-arch trim etc like the Fabia it would have given it a real fresh boost I think - but 4/10 for effort.

Quite handy if you've got fat legs to fit underneath the steering wheel.

But you would not be able to turn the steering wheel if you had fat legs and there is not many straight roads? Maybe the island where they use a car to go 300 yards up and down to the lighthouse?

Skoda UK just posted some pictures of the new Monte Carlo range on Facebook, heres the Citigo version.

Hmmm, might cancel my Sport now...

+1 for the fat legs. Flat bottomed steering wheel was a godsend on the TT to stop your right leg hitting the steering wheel when turning under braking.....

I like it. Wonder what colour the decals are on the black on.

It just doesn't look "mad" enough as the original Sport did.  My Sport turns heads wherever it goes, it doesn't on power so has to on something if you want to stand out from the crowd.  Now I didn't buy it for that, I just liked the fun look of the thing, but this new Monte Carlo version just doesn't stand out at all.

Don't change your order marky9074,  someone else will snap up your order if you do and I think you might regret it., IMHO.

You didn't buy an SQ5 for off road ability, you bought it for power and a fantastic 5 cylinder UR Quattro original rally car based sound.  Lovely.

Actually, I got the TT RS for the fantastic 5 cylinder soundtrack... which unfortunately had to go, to make way for the SQ5 when bubba arrived

Kept the same engine and therefore noise but something more practical.  Job done.

Keep the Sport on order.  ;)

Nope.. RS Q3 has the same engine. SQ5 has bi-turbo 3.0l but same hp, so I'm more than happy. Even the engine note is bearable, albeit mostly artificial..

???

It's virtually identical on the outside bar the stripes?

So its basically a sport with different stickers on the outside and a darker dash insert.

Oh the grill, front splitter, rear diffuser and wingmirrors are gloss black too... wether that is the same as production spec in the UK remains to be seen.

Some pics show it with a full length black roof, others with just a black surround around the sunroof like an Elegance.

Is it me are the headlights more darker??

Everytime I look at the pics I like it, just wish they did a higher engine.
