  • Wow! A bit of a fly on the wall comment in jest has been turned into me supposedly taking the credit for the size of the thread!?! Err...ok...   Just to clarify, I have far more important things to

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

Glad you have the readies.

Still glad you have the readies to hand, many don't.

I didnt know about DTD tbf. Used a similar website before, but not that one.

Worth knowing though.

Would you still opt for the £26k, 3k miles ex demo, and save 4 months, or not? (Out of interest)

Tom,

Checkout Autotrader and or VW website for used at retail prices. then take off about £2.5k for base price to start. This car advertised would normally be about £29500

Remember this is much better value than the inflated S1.Audi retail price S1 is approx. £26k.Think I know my preference.

It's the same story with M135i's Keith. Plenty of ex-demos for sale at higher prices than you can order a new one, and dealers wondering why they can't shift 'em. New manual 3-dr M135i is £25k after discount, total bargain.

Proper bargain!

I think the dealers like to chance things. If you were uneducated, plenty of money n abit soft, you might see their prices as you drive past, think its a bargain and drop in

The dealers hearing pound signs. Even more then usual. Haha.

Same topic as OP, I'm discovering the geezer mechanic mentality over at SNC over the DSG box fitted to the S3/R/cupra. I'm told without any evidence that it's an uprated box to handle 450Nm torque and many R owners are running 500+ down them no problem. I can't find any evidence of this, and given the codes in the book and seeing the recall notice there is no 2nd Gen DQ250 box fitted. Does anyone know for sure, as I'm beginning to see why some brisky members are no fans of scn.

Abit like the current chap on the mk2 Fabia section who just spanked 21k on a new vRS :-0

That dealer must have been laughing their socks off at the profit they made on it.

I've never tested a car that was warmed up tbf haha.

But its not mine. So I'll happily redline it with a cold engine. I dont mind too much.

I test drove a fabia 1.2 tsi. Redlined it everywhere right from cold. Got back to the dealers and he says, 'we can do you a good deal on that. You wont have to pay much if you part ex yours'

'No thanks i said.

Why not? Thought you liked the engine?

I do, but its spent all its life doing exactly what I've just done to it. I wouldnt touch it. Haha.

I'd never do that, for that very reason. I don't understand why you would show such little sympathy for an engine, whatever, wherever.

I've bought 3 ex demos now, no problem with any if them, on the basis of what I've seen Nissan do at the final inspection in Sunderland from years ago.

Not even if it wasnt yours, you're out for a test drive and youve got about 10 minutes till you hand the keys back and never see it again?

Rude not to IMO.

Nope. Just not how I do things I guess.

Don't worry mate I'm sure Oli didn't get to testdrive your ex-demo Leon! ;-)

I feel sorry for him when he finds out hes been mugged, legally.

Hehehe. You never know ;). No comment ;). Hahaha.

Unfortunately, a vast majority of the rest of us do on a demo car.

Thats what a demo cars for.

I treat my own cars in the nicely way possible. Infact. My 1.2 htp has never seen the redline, ever. Its got 15k miles on it now.

Just thinkin about this n having a giggle.

Be abit funny.

Like finding out your mates got a new gf but youve already shown her a good time before hand

Lolololol.

I think it's gradually dawning on him. I'm convinced he didn't realise about the VAT deal until after he got home in his new car and is now in a panic trying to undo the mugging. Whatever, I hope he gets it sorted and claws some cash back from the dealer as it's not a nice position to be in.

Poor bloke.

I guess its the outcome of not doing all the research first though. It can bite back, and quite hard too.

Haha! But would you be more annoyed if you introduced your new bird to a mate -then found out he'd already nailed her or ...if you took your new motor over to show off and he revealed he'd enjoyed ragging it from cold at the dealers last week...? Lol

Defo the first one. But for the giggle factor. He seems quite keen on treating his leon right.

But my 2 best mates have been round most of the town between em anyway. So im forced to go out of town for the long term stuff really. Haha.

Lol I don't think so.

Never a good feeling when you hear a mate has asked to take her out. Then when he's got inside her he's been abusing her 'box and slobbering all over her airbags (the car that is). Lol

If that's meant to be funny it's not. There's banter and taking the **** gentlemen. If you're remotely the latter you'll desist. Thank you and happy new year.

Im assuming this is a sarcastic reply.

If not. Well. Oh.
