I seem to remember doing one of these when I joined Briskoda. It's only slightly different now, as I'm on my second Skoda.

'72 1.1 Escort Mk I

'76 1.6 Cortina Mk IV

'79 1.3 Escort Mk II

'84 1.1 Escort Mk III

'90 1.6 Orion Mk II

Have you spotted a theme there?

'03 Octavia 1.9 TDI

'12 Yeti 2.0 TDI

That lot covers 30 years of driving - anyone else had as few cars, or been similarly unadventurous?

Dream car? If I had the space & money to buy and look after it then an Austin Healey 3000 Mk III in Ice Blue over Ivory. If you're not going to give me the money I'll stick with the Yeti :)

Top list of cars,I bet they brought back some memories good and bad!!

Be interesting to hear how diesel cars have changed and how different they are looked at nowadays compared to years ago..

Starting from the first they are as follows:

VW Polo in pale blue - 895cc! Well we all had to start somewhere!
VW Scirocco Mk 1 GTI in white - 1600cc 110bhp modified with Sachs sports suspension, ATS Cup wheels (my all time favourite wheel design), Janspeed manifold and system.  A fantastic little car; really light (certainly by modern standards) and handled brilliantly.
VW Golf Mk 2 GTI 16v in Atlas Grey. An all time classic.
Mazda MX-5 Mk 1 in red. We moved to Cyprus so we just had to have a new MX-5. Another all time classic car.
Mitsubishi Galant GLSi in white. Super smooth engine and all the toys, but harsh ride, uncomfortable seats and small boot did not make it the family car we needed now that children had arrived.
Ford Mondeo Mk 1 1800 GLX Estate in green. The original Mondeo and a quite brilliant car. We kept it for 9 years and it never let us down and was always a pleasure to drive.
Vauxhall Zafira Mk 1 1600. We nicknamed this 'The ****box'; neither Mrs T nor I liked it and it was neither fast nor economical. It did have 7 seats which suited us as we had 3 children who seemed incapable of sitting on the same row without fighting.
Vauxhall Astra 1400cc. I bought this for £395 to commute to work. It was 12 years old when I bought it; I used it for 2 years and it returned almost 50mpg and I sold it for £250. It wasn't a great car but it was bangernomics at its best.
Ford Focus Mk 1 1800 Ghia. I bought this to replace the Astra but we only kept it for 3 months as it was not big enough, so I traded it in for a
Ford Focus Mk 1 2-litre Ghia Estate in Met Green with heated leather, cruise control etc. Another car I kept for a long time and over the years it was modified with Bluefin, Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks, ST200 alloys, ST170 front brakes, ST170 headlights, ST170 airbox and snorkel, custom made stainless steel cat back exhaust and upgraded Sony head unit with ipod connection.
Meanwhile, the Zafira had been traded in for a Ford Ka Zetec Climate in Apple Green. This now has Eibach springs, SportKa front brakes, Ka embossed leather seats, upgraded head unit and an awful lot of sound insulation.
In Dec 13 the Focus suffered a catastrophic rear wheel bearing failure on the M62. I decided to sell rather than repair and the buyer has broken it for parts. I replaced it with a Mk 4 Mondeo Titanium X with 2-litre Ecoboost engine and Powershift gearbox. Mrs T liked the automatic gearbox so much she decided that she wanted a new car as well, so she now drives a Skoda Fabia vRS - 1.4 litres of supercharged and turbocharged madness!
We still have the Ka that our son is using to learn to drive but once he passes his test he can either buy it from us or it will be sold.

Dream car is slightly off the wall as it is not the best of its genre, but I've always had a soft spot for the manufacturer since I first saw the Bora as a young lad: Maserati Granturismo.

Are you a dealer? Or do you just get bored really, really easily? Or are you, like, 300 years old?

I get bored very easily. But I am 44 and got my bike licence in 1987 and car licence in 1988.

I have had a company car for the last 12 years but in that time I have had around 30 cars of my own and about 8 bikes as well.

I have only had my Octavia estate a few months and I keep looking at other cars already.

The longest I have kept a car of my own was 3 years and that was a Mk2 flat front RS2000 but I had other cars at the same time.

I think the most I have had at the same time was 4.

Regurgitated from 2003 and updated.

1954 - Morris Minor (Handed down from my parents)

1953 - Mercedes 220 (One of only 6 RHD imported. Owned by Jack Barclay - the RR Dealer. Possible rad leak so it had to go. It is still registered with the DVLA)

1958 - Jaguar 3.4 Mk 1 (Lethal in a straight line above 100mph on Michelin X tyres, and an absolute rust bucket. And the tea chest backing (literally) to the wood veneer used by Jaguar was an eye opener)

1952 - Mercedes 300 (2½ tons of Teutonic luxury including side curtains)

1963 - Morris 1100 (Owned briefly in Malta. A dog of a car)

1966 - Fiat 600D (new) (An aberration which the RAF expunged by posting me back to the UK)

1965 - Lotus Elan S2 (Not as fast as Lotus claimed - but they removed the rev limiter on the road test car (and have done the same since). Very exciting when it aquaplaned!)

1966 - VW1300 (A snake exhaust upped the top speed from 75 to 85mph, and camber compensators allowed me to drive around corners)

1969 - VW411 (new) (VW's Edsel. Another aberration, bought on the basis of a VW brochure saying how advanced the car was going to be)

1971 - Renault 16TL (The most comfortable seats of any car I have been in)

1973 - VW Passat TS Auto (Sporty. Changed gear at 6700rpm when kickdown used. Used to give MGBs a run for their money)

1975 - Audi 100GL Campaign Auto (Spacious and well-appointed but persistent misfiring problems)

1978 - Peugeot 504GL Estate (new) (A bit agricultural, especially under the bonnet)

1980 - Audi 100CD5E Auto (new) (Nice to drive, but problems with leaking power steering, crankshaft oil seal, torque converter and rust. Depreciated by 75% in 4 years)

1984 - Peugeot 505GR Family Estate (new) (Impressive carrying and towing capacity, ie 8 people and a 1450kg caravan)

1989 - Metro City (The rustiest car I have owned)

1989 - Peugeots 205 1.9GTi (Noisy beyond belief and very unreliable. One of my sons' cars in which I had a 1/3 financial interest and drove!)

1992 - Nissan 200SX. (Tuned to 300+bhp. In beautiful condition and fun to drive. Also one of my sons' cars in which I had a 2/3 financial interest and drove!)

1993 - Vauxhall Senator 3.0 CDi 24V Auto (Impressive in most respects and very under-rated. My favourite. Major rust sent it on its way)

1997 - Skoda Felicia 1.6 GLX (Reliable etc but dreadfully heavy steering when parking)

2002 - Skoda Octavia 1.8T 4X4 Estate (A Jabba custom remap and a 1.4MPI badge on the back turned this into a 'sleeper')

2007 - Skoda Fabia vRS. (The torque is addictive but it is not a sporty hatch when cornering)

2010 - Skoda Octavia II 1.8TSI 4X4 Estate (A worthy and refined successor to my Mk 1 4X4)

Dream car: The original Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.
