New Rack fitted, collected the car today.....

lasted all of 30 miles before something else broke.

Sounds like the Near side Drive shaft is shot! a creaking sound as i pull away slowly (none of the usual ticking on full lock, so inner joint maybe?), with the wheels dead ahead there is alot of play on the near side drive shaft in the in out motion. but when you boot it with ASR off (so really hacking it from stationary) there is an almighty bang from the near side.

Took it to skoda one of the techs gently drove the car (didnt boot it so it wasnt as apparent) he said he could hear/feel something but didnt want to say 100%.

afterall ive changed everything on the front suspension/steering now except for:

Front wheel bearings & Hubs

Front Wishbone bushes (rears were done)

Driveshafts

What else do i need to fix on this car? I should have seen this coming as the Outer CV boot had gone on this side and i replaced it, guess it was too late :(

Yup sounds like you caught it too late :(

Edit- is this less reliable than my Clio if it only does 30 miles per problem

That Fabia is back at the garage, but i dont feel that its coming back....

This one cost me £2000 originally and it had a fair amount of issues to start with but this just keeps going on.

Why don't you want it back? Just a bit of an extra when this one seems to be doing its job? :)

Xenons are not worth the hassle or risk of using an mechanically unknown car.

Some Depos on ebay at the moment and a HID kit ;)

Makes an overpriced SE seem good value :)

Got no xenons has it? ;) :(

Personally I wouldn't be worrying about a bit of a creek when moving off, wait for it to develop into a full on creek and then fix it. In the meantime get it on the road and have some fun, you could even get it booked in for Oulton park on 7th November with me and Cossie.

Turn the radio up son and drive it   :D  as for the lack of xenons, eat some carrots  :nerd:

This ^^^ if I worried about every creek my heap of junk made I'd never drive the thing ;)

Buy one with xenons that doesn't break :p

Haha very true Richard!

Sitting ATS euro master with a mates dad checking out the tracking. Im taking james advise and just see how it goes.

Fairly certain I have the ability to identify any weak points lol. I have a reputation at work for breaking cars :D but I thinl they are confused as I tend to only buy broken cars.

LOL in that case buy the one that you don't want to buy!

In all fairness I have a moan and groan about breaking the car or mmoaning about spending money on it

but I enjoy it really :)

Sometimes wondered if I should have got a job in a garage!

Taylor, it has been said many times, "If it has tyres or breasts, it will cost you money!"

You just have to prioritise what you do to your car, I tend to do all the safety things first like brakes and steering, then progress to servicing parts, oil, filters etc, once these are done the rest is just as and when needed.

I thought about getting the tyres replaced for my next track day but looking at them there is 2-3mm still on them so they will do, if it rains I will just have to go steady... maybe or improve car control.

Not forgetting that whilst you are doing all these little jobs you are improving your knowledge and ability and getting the satisfaction of "I did that"

Keep up the good work and hopefully I will see you in your car at one of our meets.

Well tracking was done, was out a little bit but nothing too serious, but it would appear since then the knock/creak appears to have gone :S

Very puzzled we couldnt see anything underneath except my suspicions about the near side drive shaft.

drives well :) is a good bit of fun now :D

Thing is one of the other guys at ATS said the RARB could be an MoT failure as its bolted directly onto the rear strut mount (no drop links) and that its strapped onto the rear beam axle.

Its installed as per instructions, so im confused why it "could" be seen as a MoT failure, any ideas?

ignore him, he is a mere tyre fitter.  I am sure you can get it MOT'd by a "proper" garage if you get me?

I've not had any issues with my rarb and mots :)
