Still nothing exciting to update.. sorry...still a boring thread.

the car STILL has a slight clutch issue which was 1 of the reasons i done the fluid change.   when it gets used loads i.e sat in traffic in rush hour, the clutch sometimes wants to eat the car in front of me as it does not fully disengage. so checking my master cylinder it looked all dry, i decided that the CSC mite be at fault, and rather than learn the hard way when it explodes over my nice shiny uprated clutch, id change it.

changed the gearbox mount whilst it was out as its silly not to.   i done a 120 mile round trip for work and once again my creaping clutch came back as i pulled up at home.  :'(  So, master cylinders ordered and will be at work monday morning..   just hopes it sorts it as its boring me now.

to cheer my self up i Fly eyed the lights like on my last SE, looks loads better :)

  • 2 weeks later...

finally got use of my hand now after my altercation with the Daimler gearbox a couple weeks ago.. so today was down the garage day and in true English fashion.. it peeed down all day!

20141004_121831.jpg

i ordered up the Shim and gearbox cap and went about fitting it.

first off.. wheel and inner arch liners.

popped the cap off..

there was no play in the shaft what so ever (other than the norm) which is what you can hear.  It was tight as a mouses ear hole.  that confirmed to me thats its a clutch issue.  Master, CSC both changed, fluid changed, no room for the shim. Its the only thing left.

make shift oil filler!

Good work mate! Planning on colour coding the strut brace?

Thought about it, but i seen a couple others SE`s with a colour coded brace.... mite stick with the purple but change the shade to a metallic pearl. if i do that, ill do the solid boost pipes the same colour.

about £15 i think. i still have the shim in the wrapper if you after 1?

Quite possibly. Can't do anything at the moment though. Pm me what you want for the shim. Got to sort out a new cap first and possibly a master cylinder. May be the same as you and not need it.

ok ..  update time.

So i been having this clutch issue for ages.  Changed loads of bits and it looks to be the clutch now as everythings been replaced, hence the new clutch up there. ^^^

I have already got a SMF on the car which i will be selling as there no point binning it as its only just over a year and half old.  The clutch thats comming off is the AWSOME GTI heavy clutch kit. this is to only just over a year and half old, so if your thinking of buying a clutch, personally i would avoid this one.

The clutch going on is the Sintered paddle clutch and DMF from darkside. good for just under 400ft lb.  as this is "supposed" to be the daily, i need to make it more drivable in the 8 miles of traffic i sit in twice a day.   I know the whole thing about DMF`s but i cant stand the clatter from the SMF on a diesel.

The cars booked in at the end of the month at AMD tuning to have the clutch and LSD fitted. hopfully it will be ready by the Brands hatch track day on the 3rd. :)

in other news...

Charlie (darkhero) who done my octy dash started doing my fabia this week.    so i had to start stripping it..   not easy as its always dark when i finished work now..

sorry for crap pic..

20141019_204618.jpg

you get the idea..

Tomorrow im going to get some white "pov spec" needles as the red ones do not light up with the blue... i did this on my octy and they look amazing. ill also be removing a ali AC pipe as 1 of mine has a hole in it, so hopfully that will not be to much of an issue.
