That looks great.

Do you have the eibach part numbers for the spacers front and rear?

  • I have had a very similar experience puting H&R lowering springs on my Elegance. I was very unhappy with the ride height visually and the general handling performance, even with a 1.6 TDi up front

  • No spacers - I'm not sure on these at the moment.   Pics to follow - though i don't have any 'before' shots!

  • Finally fitted my H&R springs today. Pleased with the look and Initial impression is def stiffer as you'd expect but as above flatter and felt more 'sporty'...not unpleasant imo. Not fully teste

The stance on some of these Skoda's are amazing :) wish I could drop the VRS 40mm but realistically around London I don't think I'll have much of a front bumper left :( plus I keep a half load in the boot most of the time, so I was wondering if a 25mm H&R drop will be ideal for me! Do you think the ride height will defiantly drop & will it be level from front to back!

Thinking of buying this kit

Or is it these ones

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=191059604383&globalID=EBAY-GB

Which ones will be the right set for a VRS 63 plate petrol estate/combi

As I was told that the Diesel engines are heavier than the petrol so the diesel will lower more compared to the petrol or will I be better off with the 30-40mm kit if H&R do one, seeing that the petrol will take more to lower than the diesel

Dont have a Mk3 but had Eibachs on a few cars now.

Eibach springs are usually progressive so the ride isnt much harder over small bumps but the spring gets harder the further its compressed so can get a bit crashy over large bumps

You could fit 17" wheels to help the ride and use Eibach springs to give the look and the handling you want

I have Eibach on my MK2.  They are linear wound.  You need to read the certification to ascertain if they are linear or progressive.  Linear are better IMO.  Single rate is easier to tune

Morning all,

I have my H&R springs sat ready to go on once my mate returns from holiday (mates rates)! Just wondering, obviously with the change of springs the tracking is required to be checked and re-aligned, but have any of you also had the camber checked and changed to suit?

I've read a few things stating, it won't cause a massive issue and other articles stating camber is the most important thing when lowering.

May be a stupid question, may not but thought I'd ask for piece of mind rather than go through tyres like nothing.

Any advice/experience on the Vrs hatch would be appreciated.

cheers

You can't do anything about the front camber.

I can't understand why you'd put a car on the rack & not check adjust everything.  The alignment ex-factory is probably marginal anyway as the car movers don't care very much how hard they hit the loading ramps.

Well the springs were fitted yesterday and no adjustment needed at all so happy days......

40mm H&R springs look great and the ride is spot on, maybe even a little better than the standard.

All in all very happy! :D

Anyone know of a good place to get these fitted in Scotland if i buy them from ebay?

I have to agree about the ride.

I've got 25mm lowering Eibach's and I think the ride is better than standard, certainly less crashy.

Definitely less crashy but the H&Rs are a little bouncy until they settle in, but now I don't even notice I've had it lowered, until I come to a sleeping policeman. Ha ha

I have a pair of 20mm h&r spacers mate if you would like to make me an offer. they were on for about 200miles then sold my wheels and brought some new wheels with a different offset. They are the 20mm each side, bolt to the hub sort .

I'm hoping to get mine fitted next week, just sorting 20mm spacers for the rear, leaving the front for the mo as doesn't look too bad in my opinion where as the back wheels look lost on mine!

Just want them all fitted now lol!!

Not a massive difference but a Massive improvement!

Rides alot better. Doesn't roll, bang into holes, pitch on acceleration or braking. It's as it should have come from the factory!

AP particularly good to deal with as well. Thoroughly recommend them.

Very nice - some questions about the mods:

- what are those aftermarket wheels and the sizes/specs (ET, width, etc)

- where did you get that red stripe for top of grill?

- with that height, doesn't that front splitter scrap everywhere? I wanted one, but the snow on the road in Finnish winter kinda puts me off a bit...

I'm sorry been there done that and its far too "show car/ enthuisiast" for me, its just not for this countries roads (UK).

I respectfully understand why you did it, I also put mine back as I had HR on the Fabia and I've actually learnt to appreciate the stock suspension ( for all the reasons you cite as downsides)

I just wish I'd put the newer shocks on with old suspension as the 2yr+ experiment with the HRs was somewhat of a hassle and possibly left me with a bit of wear on one of the shockers which is a bit noisy over very rought terrain.

There is the risk with installing such aftermarket suspension to make it worse, not better ( the not broken, don't fix it analagy), you have to pay particular care to getting the installation perfect ( which is not easy as they don't supply bump stops suited to the new springs for a start and no one seems to be any authority on the right ones but its usually from other models ! ).

My Octy for me is closer to "perfection" than my Fabia was as standard to be honest.

Hence It won't get envy or anything from Beember or Golf owners in terms of scraping the pavement but theres more to like than that nonsense personally.

I understand why you guys do it but its not for me, I'm out.

Good luck - but never again from me as a long term former HR user.

Lovely photos

Looks fantastic, I'm guessing they are 20" wheels? Having wrecked three tyres in the first 8,500 miles with 19" wheels on mine, I'm hoping you do better...

Old thread I know but now people have had their H&R springs on some time how have they found the OEM dampers have held up?

Has anyone upgraded to uprated dampers?

I'm struggling to find any uprated dampers and have concerns how the OEM will last.

KW do some awesome coilovers, not sure if they just do dampers.

Just now, mabnz said:

Yeah been looking at the KW comfort coilovers which sound exactly what I'm after, up to 40mm drop and retain OEM comfort virtually apparently, however around £1,100 so need to keep saving.

Hi!

I have MK3 Octavia 1.4TSI Elegance with "sport package", which lowers the car by -15mm. Has someone added the H&R -40mm springs to this kind of car?
I'm thinking how low will the car be after installing the H&R -40mm springs.. Pictures would be nice!

The -40mm is counted from the "original" height right? So my car would become -25mm lower than now?

I just added 15mm spacers front and 20mm rear, looks good but the car is just too high.

Pics of spacers fitted please.:)
