Random alarm going off in the cold

Featured Replies

My Mum and Dad had my car from new and I remember that when the temps dropped below zero in the winter, the alarm went off randomly during the wee hours.

It went back to he dealer several times but they could never find anything wrong and I think he parents just got used to it.

This will be my first winter with the car, and it has yet to happen (fingers crossed it stays this way).

Anyone else had this happen?

Car is 04 plate vRS.

Is the battery ok? If so I would clean the connectors on the battery and terminals and add copper grease

This was done apparently, the problem was happening from new so pretty sure the dealer would have picked up on this?

Will do it again anyway, just curious to see if a one off problem or something that had happened to someone else.

I had this a few times - alarm error code reported a battery problem but the battery tested OK until a short while later when it packed up. New battery and no more alarms - I hope

Theres the possibility someone is trying to steal it. They set off the alarm repeatedly each night until you get sick of it and leave it off, then they can nick it in peace and quiet.

Though the low battery power issue is more likely, especially in a vehicle of that age.

Definitely nobody trying that on, my parents had CCTV and nothing ever showed up on that unless they were very, very quick..

This is not a recent thing, it started when the car was new so you would of thought if it was the battery the dealer would of replaced it?

Has not happened to me yet, so fingers crossed.
