Featured Replies

were you running c-c at this RR eddy? or was it too early? sorry cant remember when you swapped over

I was running Revo, if you click on any of the names in that thread it links to the graph which has details of what software the car has.

Des, Gerry - are we up for this RR shootout?

Its gone oh so quiet shhh shhh :D

Reason it has gone quiet with me, is that on Saturday I am off cruising to Mexico, Belize and East and West Caribbean, and when I am getting rat-arsed on the all inclusive, I will be thinking of you all

Especially the discussion as to if yours is better than mine, or yours is faster than mine, as you have more dead flies on the windscreen than I do.

Might even log on whilst on board to see what has been said......LOL

Gary, as I said before, of course I am up for a day out, I do not really care what BHP it hits, it is worth coming just to meet some people from north of Watford, and have a laugh.

As we have agreed before no two rollers are the same, and to go to Stealth will only start the discussion all over again if certain cars hit figures that people find hard to believe, be they up or down.

Proof of this being that recently a member on here took a "BOG STANDARD" Octy vRS Estate to Jabba and got 239.9BHP, with just the re-map. I got questioned with only 228BHP and various other mods.

Gary, as you and I agreed on the PM, it is all tongue in cheek, and a good excuse to meet up for a bit of a social.

Not back until the 25th, so if it is to be arranged, a couple of weeks after that would be good for me.

It might be all "tongue in cheek" but it doesn't 'arf p*ss off the forum readers who'd rather have intelligent discussion, and for me the sad part is it does James and JBS's reputation no good at all :thumbdwn:

I did not start it, all I did was post up the figures that were recorded on Regals RR day last Saturday, then all the "Doubting Thomas's" started putting their vitrioloic comments in.

I cannot imagine the doubts lodged by some on here, over the validity of Regals rollers did them any good either, but Regal are not on here moaning.

All rollers are tongue in cheek as they all vary.

Bye........................................

I did not start it

I didn't say you did ;)

Nic,

Please excuse my ignorance on this one, but I cannot see how my posting up my figures can have any effect on the above mentioned reputations.

All that has happened, is that a new kid on the block (IP) has come along with a map that is good/ and is being taken up by people as it is good value for money. Yes, they are new, but so were Jabba/JBS etc not too long ago, and I have already said in an earlier post, the competition between them has given us the maps that now use and enjoy.

At no time did I compare it to a Jaab/Revo or JBS CC map, that was done by others on here who have spent a lot more money on their map than those using Impossible Performance have.

When the BHP discussion died down it was then refuelled by some into a wheel power debate, just to get it going all over again..............Why could they have not just let it rest?

It it does James and JBS's reputation no good at all

Pour quoi?

Would also add IP aren't that new just that they haven't had the exposure...I've tried to get them on board..hell I believe there's even a cheque somewhere. ;)

Mike knows his stuff...just that he so laid back, he's almost horizontal. :D

My meaning has been misunderstood. I was referring to the JBS acolytes who have been doing their usual "you must have had your car measured on inaccurate rollers - the only accurate rollers in the country are the ones at JBS" act. For some reason it seems impossible for them to grasp the fact that there could be other competent tuners in the country. For me, and possibly for others, this is making me LESS inclined to give JBS my business, rather than more likely - I don't want to be associated with this kind of posturing.

I say it's a shame because I like the folks at JBS - it's just that their customers are doing them a disservice, in my opinion.

Personally I'm inclined to believe that actually most tuners use very similar software and methods to achieve their results, and since they all start with the same basic platform, the differences between those results are therefore understandably small, and could indeed be accounted for by differences in dynamometers, or conditions.

Nic,

Thanks for the clarification as to your views and I have to agree with you, sorry if I misunderstood your stance on this.

Adrian,

Mike would have to get up to be horizontal, he is "THAT" laid back....Terrific bloke, and, as you say, really knows his stuff.

I can vouch for that about Mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Money well spent at IP BTW.

Agree with what you say Nick - so on that note how about we close this thread as the whole purpose of it was a simple question from Gary to a couple of forum members and like most other posts involving tuning it has turned into a JBS selling marathon and tuner slanging match / digging session incited by aforementioned acolytes (or would that come under the 'gross misuse of moderator powers banner'?? ;)

I just had to re-read the thread and I still can't see it as you've said. There was discussion of des's old car and NOS, a bit of discussion about an RR day which most agreed to, a bit about C-C when Black Magic asked some questions and Revo also got a mention. I can't see any posts suggesting people buy from JBS.

Also as far as I know nobody has fallen out Gary and Berretta have exchanged friendly PM's, as have I with Des who has offered to buy me a drink.

I was quite suprised by Nick's comments as they seemed to appear from out of the blue.

As it's been established that the wheel figures Gary requested won't be posted I doubt he'd be bothered if the thread was locked especially now it's been taken further off topic by Nick and Yourself.

Overall though I think the main misunderstanding is what folks think Gary's reason for starting this thread was. It's not to slate other tuners and big up the ones he's using. It's because he's passionate about cars and tuning and wants to know more about what is out there. Both Gary and Myself have used tuners other than JBS and my personal thoughts are that if I'm convinced another product is better than the one I have then that's the product I would want.

As has been mentioned a few times the IP website is lacking in information so the one of the best options seems to be to ask existing happy customers as many questions as possible.

Josh has Custom-Code Phase 1 on his and is very happy. He ran it on RR day along with various other tuned and standard Fabia's in April, the results of which can be seen here: [url']http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25772[/url]

I was at that RR day. I was told, and the details show, that Josh had REVO software, and i was shown that power graph and told to get REVO on the basis of how smooth it is ?????

It is the same RR readout as i found on the CC website - but with the mods bit saying CC !?!?!

What software were you running on the day Josh ?

Josh's post on page 4 should answer that for you:

With regards the map I was running on that dyno day, it was an early pre-release CC1, but as the whole CC thing hadn't been made public, I had to keep it under my hat.

Oh i see now. So maybe that early PDF should be tweaked or blanked off. ;)

Good idea, I'll delete the old plot and edit the link to the one on the C-C website.

Im completely gobsmaked with one or two later posts in thread.

As Eddy stated I have been in contact with Gerry and we have had a laugh over the whole episode. He's a thourghly nice chap and is obviously impressed with his product as I am with mine. I was just looking to compare relevent figures - not big up anybody!!!!!!

I have no personal vendetta against IP who im sure are a very competent tuner.

Unbelievable.

We had better get permission first.

Mods, can we, can we??

If its a yes then are we up for Stealth?

Seems like a respected set of rollers.

I don't post much now but I do keep an eye out for these threads, they do make me laugh! Unfortunately (in my opinion) they don't crop up often enough, just keeps everything lively.

But even though I do enjoy the 'my dad's bigger than your dad' threads I really do think some of you need to get out more.

In your cars maybe? Just a suggestion

Got to close now as off on holiday tomorrow and have not even packed anything yet, SWMBO is getting a bit arsey and thinks I should start packing.
