I just had to re-read the thread and I still can't see it as you've said. There was discussion of des's old car and NOS' date=' a bit of discussion about an RR day which most agreed to, a bit about C-C when Black Magic asked some questions and Revo also got a mention. I can't see any posts suggesting people buy from JBS.

Also as far as I know nobody has fallen out Gary and Berretta have exchanged friendly PM's, as have I with Des who has offered to buy me a drink.

I was quite suprised by Nick's comments as they seemed to appear from out of the blue.

As it's been established that the wheel figures Gary requested won't be posted I doubt he'd be bothered if the thread was locked especially now it's been taken further off topic by Nick and Yourself.

Overall though I think the main misunderstanding is what folks think Gary's reason for starting this thread was. It's not to slate other tuners and big up the ones he's using. It's because he's passionate about cars and tuning and wants to know more about what is out there. Both Gary and Myself have used tuners other than JBS and my personal thoughts are that if I'm convinced another product is better than the one I have then that's the product I would want.

As has been mentioned a few times the IP website is lacking in information so the one of the best options seems to be to ask existing happy customers as many questions as possible.[/quote']

I personally have no intention of locking the thread. Healthy discussion about maps is what the forum is all about. However continually calling other tuners' reputations and equipment into question (usually implicitly - i.e. in the "I can't believe that's possible because my car doesn't do that" way) is not beneficial and will damage the goodwill that currently exists between all parties. That was my beef. Of course I understand that there's a bit of "my dad's bigger than your dad" about it, and of course that's harmless.

I'm not personally the kind who wants to indulge in RR shootouts, but if that's what floats your boat, then so be it, but let's keep it good humoured.

If the RR day takes place somewhere accessible, I'd like to come along even though my car is not worth putting on any rollers just now.

How much is a drink these days.........it's been a while.

I don't post much now but I do keep an eye out for these threads' date=' they do make me laugh! Unfortunately (in my opinion) they don't crop up often enough, just keeps everything lively.

But even though I do enjoy the 'my dad's bigger than your dad' threads I really do think some of you need to get out more.

In your cars maybe? Just a suggestion [/quote']

Oi, where the hell have you been. ;)

After reading some of these :grouphug: post's i'm starting to feel a bit nauseous. If it carries on I will be forced to lock this thread. :P

I have to agree with this, the initial suggestion to all meet at a rolling road, that is neutral to all, would be to establish if the RR figures we "HAVE ALL" got in the past were near to being correct.

Never was it suggested or implied that it would get into a list of who has the best, or it would develop into a shootout.

Now we have got it back to being good humoured, lets keep it good humoured and not ask how much we each paid for the performance figures we attain, as I am sure some have paid a lot, lot, more than others. :)

I'm gone..............................................

Break a leg Gerry ;)

If the RR day is around the midlands, should be accessible to all I for one would be Very interested and will be there come what may too many good remaps on offer .....can't make up my mind so if I could scrounge a run out in a few cars with different maps, would really help :D

I put forward Stealth Racing who have a pretty respectable set of rollers.

They are based in the midlands:

Stealth Racing

Units 6 & 12

Warwick House Industrial Estate

Banbury Road

Southam

Warwickshire

CV47 2PT

Stealth Racing is situated only 6 miles from Junction 12 off the M40, and is located on the A423, for your convenience.

Perhaps rather than a rolling road, we should look at getting together on an old runway strip / airfield or something, so people can drive other peoples cars to actually get a feel for the 'modifications' ??????

Nice idea but me thrashing my car is one thing, 10 other people is another!!

How do you go about booking something like Bruntingthorpe for a bit of runway action.

Oooohhhhh, look at him!!!! :finger:;)

well theres an awful lot of talk in this thread... and very little action... a bit of a shoot out would be good.... shame your all straight liners.... in the old days we used to go round corners as well... theres a bit more skill in it.... (well some of us went round corners.. Des often pulled over to the grass for some sandwiches)

No one will take me on round the track anymore. :P

in the middle of Pembrey circuit?:)

then again colin leaving anglesey circuit at abbots to seemingly pitch his tent was quite an achievement as well.

BTW anyone seen him? IIRC was he not @ JBS today to fix his Rowntrees wobbly clutch and "interesting/pot luck" development map???

Hope they sort it out, I'm next.

i think the clutch may actually eb a flywheel problem... which may just explain the drivability issues also... or it could be colin muddling the pedals up....

I reckon I can hold my own around corners with the help of Koni coilovers, H&R front ARB, Neuspeed rear ARB, Neuspeed front upper strut brace, S3 front lower tie bar and a Quaife ATB diff.

Something about a track day scares me senseless though, would love to try one but hate the thought of taking it a little too far

Next time we are on track you're in my car, after a couple of laps you can drive it. You will not look back.

I can certainly see where the addiction will come from.

Id probably end up signing up for every trackday under the sun and going through brake pads and tyres like they were going out of fashion!!

Every track day your car would break...VAG out of the box are not strong enough for that level of abouse, even with modified extras.

A half dozen a year are fine, I have no extra wear on mine after a track day as I would a day around wales.

Not taking it to far is where skill comes in ;)

Of which I am learning, heck if you can spin at 80+ and not get a mark, try doing that on the A5. Tracks are the safest place to test yourself, at least a paramedic is only 5 mins away and you have a lid on.

I'll butt out now as it's late and I'm very grumpy about the one hand being better than the other...this world has learnt nothing from how every many millemium of evolution about this and that.

I hope we have loads of track days next year - it's getting late in the year now - almost time to tuck the car away for the winter :(

Still it does mean i've got a few months now to source a decent 6 spd and diff and rollcage and new seats and new gauges and bigger brakes and........... etc etc aaaaaaargh it never ends!
