P15 SED  ?

The MD of a dealership I worked for asked me to get him a reg for his new T5 Volvo. All his previous reg nos had been ...XXX

I tried to get him A55 OLE but Swansea wouldn't release it... I wonder why! I told the lady at DVLA if fitted the person it was meant for perfectly.. She couldn't stop laughing.

Two initials, correct age for car, VRS or FAB.

If you want to have a spend up VRS 2 and VRS 3 are alledgedly available for £5,000 - £6,000.

Yes and after two holidays it'll still be worth £5,000. ;)

Yes but on top of the holidays women normally shell out a load more money shopping so save yourself the extra spending she'd create and get a fancy number plate, you know it makes sense :D

Try eBay, I bought mine for a song, dateless as well. You have to be patient to get what you want make sure you're certain it's right for you before buying and set yourself a realistic budget. Also make sure they have good feedback.

P15S ED        How do you know he likes a drink?         :giggle:

I'd tend to steer clear of one that's too car specific - one day you might want something other than a VRS  and your plate would end up looking wrong!

One thing I've found with mine (C2NSK - see my username) is that if it's a bit too obscure then you find yourself having to explain it to everyone, people always say to me "but your initials aren't NSK" then I have to explain that it comes from my nickname "Czinski". I still love the plate but the questions can get annoying after a while!

Nothing wrong with having one too car specific if you are happy to leave it on the car because you didn't pay much for it.

Most FAB or VRS plates cost less than a remap so they are hardly a big loss of cash.

I left SE09FAB on my VRS when I sold that as to me it belonged on the car anyway.

This is why for non-car specific ones I think it's worth spending a bit more.

I personally (and I know this is just my opinion) don't get people buying a £200 number plate that doesn't seem to mean anything and then swapping it from car to car over many years.

Every single car it goes on will depreciate and cost the owner far more that the plate is worth.

Better IMO to spend a bit more, get a decent plate (if plates are your thing, obviously) and then it'll hold most or all of it's value and because it's a good plate it'll look even better on every car you get.

I've seen people put £200 plates on cars that depreciate by £5,000+ per year.

It's a poor choice of where to put your money.

:D

not available and mines a 54 plate

I have bought several plates over the last couple of years and use the DVLA site - they are the same price as everyone else and you get that security feeling that you are buying from a legit source -

Most of the "cheaper" adverts forget to add in the extras like VAT, DVLA registration fee etc etc - so do the comparison

My VRS has **** VRS and will stay with the car when it goes

My others have initial/name specific plates.

Good hunting

Shame yours is a 54 plate:

ME55Y BJ

£999, available now

I've got it!

BJ5 4 ALL  ;)

Iv just got VR52 DEC for vrs and my name dec :) get it off dvla not new reg or anywhere new reg appears cheaper until you go to pay and they add this and that into it all and it becomes a lot more expensive than dvla price
