I liked Ali Bongo when young and his kind of magic & i believed he died in 2009.

Been scrapping a bit with android auto in the Kodiaq recently...   Works on SWMBO phone but not mine so figured it was the phone or the cars USB socket playing up.  Anyhow finally had a look at both and figured it was the USB C plug on the lead that was to blame.  Nipped it up a bit to get a tighter fit on my phone and all is now well...   I think my phones socket must be a bit worn.

Caught the two mice in the garage.  Ordinary grey house-mice, very undesireable around cars.

I first tried with a plastic non-lethal trap, but the little b*gger chewed through the plastic and escaped. So I borrowed my step-son's metal Longworth trap, that he had once used for some field studies. Caught a mouse that night, Caught the second mouse the following night. I turn them loose on the big compost heap in the village churchyard, to take their chances of living happily or becoming an owl's dinner.

 

We have often had wild woodmice nesting among the junk in the garage. They are pretty, come out to eat some of the birdfood in the mornings and generally amuse us. I think they are harmless, but house mice chew insulation on car wiring and can do damage, I believe.

Edit: Just by way of an update, she passed with flying colours.  No faults, no minors, and the examiner commented 'Great ride'.

Stanley didn't make it ☹️  After consultation and medical (read arboreal) advice it was agreed to switch things off and allow nature to take its course.  He went peacefully to join his maker, and wasn't in any pain.  It was the right thing to do 🥲

 

At the risk of sounding cruel and shallow, meet Stacey:

 

Stacey is a rescue.  She came to us with her bigger Sister, Stella (it didn't seem right to part them) from a garage sale in Seaford.  She seems amicable and good natured.  Nice, stable outlook and I'm intending this to be her forever home 👍

I remember catching a wood mouse when I was young and couldn't wait to show it to my mum (they are super cute with their big feet). Unfortunately I chose the kitchen to show her and those big feet aren't built for aesthetics, they're built to jump! Like a furry 'frog that has a sticky suction cup and a spring' it paused a moment and left 2 feet vertically in the air before disappearing into the cupboard where the biscuits were!!!!!!! . My mum wan not impressed with my countryside awareness

I thought about where to post this, and decided it is a moment of joy.

 

Bagpipes.  I love bagpipes.  Don't know quite what it is, but they really pull on my heartstrings.

 

Last Tuesday was the funeral of our lovely friend Margaret.  Possibly the most moving funeral I've been to (and I'm of an age now where I've been to dozens).

 

Unbeknown to me, and most, as we gathered at the Crematorium and Margaret arrived, she was piped in by a solitary Piper.  He was in full Uniform and it was incredibly moving.  Even my hard-as-nails Daughter was a mess like I've not seen before.  He piped her in, piped mid-ceremony, and piped her out.  It was uncanny, but also joyous.

 

It turned out, from the order of service, that the Piper was Margaret's Nephew.  I'd no idea.  I found out late last night (at Uckfield Carnival) from Margaret's Daughter, that he's a Pipe Sergeant in the London Scottish Regiment of the Scots Guard, and he had asked if he could do Margaret the honour.  He was more recently seen piping at the funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

 

I wasn't able to go and talk to Stuart as we left because he was playing.  Nothing to do with the fact I couldn't have said much 

 

Full marks to StuartThePiper 👍  Margaret was a warm and joyful person, and he certainly added to the joy of our memory of her as she moves on.

I listened to a Radio 4 programme on her and it was very revealing.   Her smile / smirk annoys me, but i do respect her gobby retort.

 

The Tory Deputy Chairman Lee Anderson MP will be very proud.

 

Name and shame the people that have been kicking the can down the road on the state of school buildings.

The gob sh!tes that think the sun shines out their backside.

 

She was / is the 5th Secretary of State for Education in 4 months.

Seems crazy to call her out on a couple of 'F' bombs. I've spent most of my life in broadcasting and everyone swears at some point. Presenters, pundits, guests, crew, everyone. Throwing the first stone seems to be becoming the newsprint medium's number one obsession these days. Glass houses and such like.

I think people aren't so much angry with her, as she described it, 'choice language'. It's that she seems to think she or her party deserve thanks.

One thing you can say is, considering she is new to the role, she wasted no time in acting to get the schools affected shut down, which is more than can be said about her predecessors.

The Traffic Commissioner must be a certain kind of twit.

 

It then made sense to me because i had already heard on the radio a comedy sketch about Police Scotland stopping a bus and finding it was fans heading to a pub that does not serve substantial meals.

But they were rugby fans.  A different class of person.

 

That is the thing that will have knocked the idea on the head, the fans going to the Bowling, Curling, Darts or what ever tournaments and most obviously  Rugby fans who are allowed to get a drunk as skunks if the so wish.

Channel 4 tonight is where England vs Scotland can be seen.  Footers ball.  For me like watching paint dry.

 

While i was sitting about 40 minutes this morning waiting on my washing getting done,

I had the joy of watching the talent & skill of these guys and the speed they did the markings.

So football is disliked because it is like watching paint dry but you moment of joy included watching paint...dry???

It dries very quick, cars drove over it as soon as they moved. So really it was watching them put it down.

akchooally, *pushing up invisible knowledge glasses of pedantry,

it doesnt dry, it sets, as its a thermoplastic polymer. then the reflective dust is scattered on top as soon as its poured which helps accelerate the cooling and setting.

 

that said watching a skilled crew setting wheelchair spaces and the like is pretty cool
