Thanks Bob.

Just trying to keep up with you.... as I said yesterday, the gloss levels on your car are absolutely superb!

Cheers & thanks for the compliment. Shame you couldn't find the gloss meter, it'll be in one of them boxes....hmmm or did you hide it on purpose :)

I washed the new car yesterday for the first time since buying it. Previous cars have always had the bog standard soapy water and sponge job but this time i've decided to do it properly.

First I spent a lot of time reading guides on the internet, then I had to go and buy everything (it isn't cheap is it!), then spent all day yesterday making my arms hurt!

1st:

Nilfisk C110 with Autobrite snowfoam lance

Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam

Valet Pro - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner

2nd:

Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo

Two buckets

Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mitt

Halfords Microfibre mitt for sills and arches

CleanYourCar Huge 'Fluffy' Drying Towel

3rd:

Autoglym Super Resin Polish with applicator sponge and microfibre towel

4th:

Collinite 476S

Meguiars Foam Applicators

Monster Microfibre Purple monster

5th:

Meguiars Interior detailer

Meguiars Glass cleaner

On the numerous times around the car I found plenty of tar spots and other contaminants that i hadn't spotted before. Now I realise I need some tar remover and maybe a clay bar for the next big clean.

This is my first time 'properly' cleaning a car and I was amazed at the sheer number and variety of products available. It was a bit overwhelming at first but i think i've got the majority of what i need. Any suggestions for anything I might have missed appreciated.

Anyway here's a pic of the car after i'd finished.

Cheers

Wow - great detail and good write-up.... worthy of its own thread really.

Thanks for sharing - great work

Great job! I'd defo buy some tar remover (auto smart) and done iron remover (I use dragons breath). I like the Farleca Clay Mitt too but others prefer a clay bar.

Cheers guys,

I'm pleased with it as a first attempt. Tar and iron remover now on the shopping list!

Thought it was over due me showing off the car and its shine.   This was actually last washed a fortnight ago, but its been in the garage and hardly gone anywhere, and it is 'recently QD'd'  on the bonnet and half the roof at least as I wanted to try the Sonax BSD when it arrived....so I'm claiming a recently cleaned  :D

what do you think?

its got 2 month old AG EGP as its LSP.  it got that topped up last time it was washed with AG Aqua wax, and as said above, the bonnet and half the roof has Sonax BSD on it, although that doesn't appear to make a visible difference currently....the AG products seem to do all the work at the moment.

Looks ace

Well done

Red is a lovely colour to clean and polish
