Morning all,

I had a 2014 Fabia Monte Carlo Tdi new and kept it 3 years, still the best car I have owned pound for pound. Gave it hell and still got 40 MPG. Anyway after buying a Seat Leon FR estate with DSG then a Clio RS (nice but totally impractical) I’m back in a Fabia Estate with the SE spec. I would have liked a Monte Carlo but budget would not allow. I need the bigger boot for putting my bike in etc, went with the 1.4 Tdi and DSG box, it’s a 2016 66 plate. Already ordered some LED bulbs and windows getting tinted next week, but really fancy upgrading the wheels from 15” to 16”, am I right in thinking I need an ET38 fitment? Also considering dropping it on some springs, nothing too drastic but maybe 20mm at the front and 30mm at the rear. Anybody near Dundee who can fit the springs for me?

Stock 16 inch rims are 16x7J ET46 with 215/45 R16 tyres. ET38 will fit though and if anything will look better. (Stock rims with 8mm front and 16mm rear spacers give an almost perfect look, and spacers effectively reduce offset, so ET46 with 8mm spacer = ET38)

Eibach or KW springs are both a good choice, they look almost identical, though the build of the springs are different, the Eibachs are progressive to maintain more comfort on riugher roads, but stiffen up when pressing hard round corners. This does mean though with stock shocks they still have some of the floatyness as the stock springs at high speed. The KWs are linear and as such are more consistent in feel in all driving conditions, you lose some of the comfort on poorer roads, but you also lose the floatiness at higher speeds.

Do note you could also pair either of them with Bilstein B8 shocks, this almost entirely gets rid of the floatiness with the eibachs and (in my opinion at least) improved handling and comfort on poorer roads. I couldn't tell you how theyll do with the KW springs though.

Both spring options drop it to a tight two finger gap both front and rear.

As for the rear springs, if you have a torque wrench and two axle stands you can easily do the rears yourself to save money, if you feel that way inclined. Took me about 20 minutes for the entire rear axle including lifting and dropping the car back down.

Ok, I have decided it’s 17” wheels I’m after for the Fabia, really like the look of the Camelot wheels on the car. Anybody looking to sell a set? Seen a nice set of 17” VRS wheels (are they called Rays) but I keep going back to the Camelot’s. Got the windows tinted today, planning a wee drop in the ride height aswell. What are people dropping the estate by with 17’s on it? Don’t want it slammed but maybe 20 at the front and 30mm at the rear.

Wife is down sizing from her Octavia which is nearly 15 years old and we are becoming a two Mk111 Fabia house as I have a 16 plate 1.4tdi

Pre reg Colour edition, 8 miles registered on the 30th of September.

Price was £13105 with little in the way of negotiation room. Paid the deposit yesterday and will collect next week.

If any one fancies a similar car they have two others at £12900 without a spare wheel and tool kit at Rainworth Skoda.

I’m new here and this is my new (to me) Fabia III Monte Carlo 1.0 TSI 110.

My previous car was a 2006 Ford Focus Estate 1.8 TDCI that I’d had for 11 years, so quite a change.

Really enjoying the little Skoda and it’s the estate model so I can still get my bike in the boot easily.

The only fly in the ointment is audio through Apple CarPlay stutters quite badly. If anyone’s experienced this and found a resolution then I’d be interested to learn how this was achieved. Thanks, Matt

2018 1.0 TSI 95ps

22180 km

Pacific Blue

"Style" + Comfort-package

Detachable towing bar

Adaptive cruise control

Engine- and passenger compartment heater

Picked it up yesterday, Coming from previously owning a Citroen Xsara Picasso (2006) in Sweden, and a 2009 Prius when I lived in the US. This is better in so many ways. And already completely in love with the adaptive cruise control. Rolling on studded tires for a couple of more weeks, longing for the summer tires. It was between this and a Hyundai i30 -16, but so far I am so happy with my choice. Just have to play around in the infotainment system to get everything set up. Thank you for all the info on this forum, it really helped me finding my way through the GPF-jungle! (read: finding a car without one... )

Awesome, really nice mods mate! Have you done the electrical installations yourself (Rear camera/steering wheel/fog lights/washer level) ?? Or can you recommend a specialist ?

Hi GRowland,

I have done all of those myself. Reversing camera was the most challenging. I found the guides to do the Reversing Camera and Washer Sensor from @wirer and his website https://wirer.sk/f3zmeny/

I have written up a guide on the front fog lights which you can find here.

Sits well that! Those shocks must have set you back a bit!

Did you need spigots and/or spacers for those alloys?

Should have come as standard with this height aha, they were reasonably priced to be fair. Only costed around £260, I got them from Autodoc so had a really good discount on them. For the wheels, I didn't need spigots surprisingly but I may need to get some spacers on it, it doesn't look thicc enough ahaha.

I'm glad to finally join this community, here's my new family member.

Skoda Fabia 1.0 TSI (Mk III)

999 ccm

95 HP

DSG-7 transmission

Rear-view camera

Automatic A/C

So far so good. After 18 years of driving and tens of different cars, this is my first non-manual transmission and I just love the feel :)

The only thing that I will have to get used to is the consumption in the city (around 7l/100km in "normal" city traffic, almost 10l/100km in the morning traffic jam). My last car was a Clio 1.5 dCi (diesel) which rarely went over 5l/100km).

Here are some pics as well:

Hi, I've just joined today altho' my wife has had her Fabia (s/h) since April 2017.

We're not new to the marque having had 4 Skodas in the mid-80s to early-90s and remember that quality actually dropped when VW first took over Skoda back then.  At the time Skoda jokes were all the rage and I must have heard most if not all of them, some I might remember, most were good as jokes. :)

Just recently I've actually started to do minor jobs on the car even though I loathe working on cars as I'm not mechanical or technical and have to work outside but with 30 years of ownership of various "classics" (overpriced and valued old cars) I've run out of money to pay someone else to bugger up the work and am forced to do that for myself.
