MY16

Featured Replies

Hi people, also just joined this forum.

I, read my new employer, just ordered the estate, read combi, Octavia for me 2 weeks ago. 2.0TDI, 6 speed. ... and there was this package with the Amundsen plus with DAB.

Now reading all this it makes me wonder if if I will get a MY16 model with the new Amundsen since it was a 'free package'.

I think mine will be delivered in August.

btw what is this ACC ?  I first thought it was Automatic Air Conditioning ... but that can't be right.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Thx for clearing that out.

Well weird to see that every country gets it own packages and levels.  Here it goes from active (low zero do not buy version), ambition (which already has auto lights, wipers etc) to style which I thought it was elegance in some countries.

Personally I'm afraid that my Amundsen+ will be the old 5.8inch screen which will be a big let down since I now have a Nexus 7 as a radio/satnav etc in my Jetta .... and I am a major Android geek.

Looking forward to seeing the ones that get the cars delivered in the weeks to come. Plz post photos if you can.  Will be highly interesting to see the differences and shining new automobiles.

Now that someone's mentioned tinting, can anyone recommend a tint shop in NW London? And for that matter a good place to get decent paint protection done. Or what to look for in a good service provider for each.

I decided too late that I should have got Sunset glass and now also realised post production tinting has certain advantages over factory fitted tinted glass.

As for paint protection I figure I can get a better job done elsewhere, for less money.

In NW London, near M1/Staples Corner roundabout a place called eclipse tinting is quite good and even price wise too, for a golf they charged £90 for rear windows only, I've decided to not go for sunest glass and I will probably be getting the tints done from them too.

If my m16 vrs thats being built this week have the old amunsden, will it still have the cd/sd card head unit in the glove box?

Unless SUK or your dealer can clarify mib1 or mib2 you won't know until it arrives as there is still mass confusion on the Amundsen units

Does tinting usually require the doors to be pulled apart to get access to the glass? I assume yes in order to do a proper job I.e. edge to edge application of the film. Are there not any risks of pulling the doors apart, potentially invalidating warranty?

@j1n20 do you know if eclipse take the doors apart and if they do a nice clean job of it? Which brand of film do they use?

Noticing the the thread is a little quieter than usual, probably because Tapatalk is not working and/or we've drained out the speculation around MY16 for now.

Suspect things will likely pick up once the first MY16 cars start to come through :-D. Wonder who will be the first to receive and report on their MY16 car?

The MY16 is very confusing - it would appear on the configurator that the vRS might come with Bluetooth and WiFi already. Amundsen is a free upgrade or at lease no cost on the configurator.

So my question would be is it worth added SmartLink and SmartGate to the car or would it be possible to "enable" them afterwards though SmartGate appears to need hardware rather than software..........though does it if the car already has WiFi?

My car has been confirmed as being built this week and to the dealer for 30th June. Likely?????

I doubt it, considering my uncles fabia will take 2 weeks to get from the dock to the dealership.

Though if it does I'm impressed!! What spec and model?

Octy vRS estate, tdi, heated leather, amundsen, black pack, rear camera, sunset glass and a couple other options.

I can see it being delayed.... Again.....

Been confirmed now that the Mk7 Golf GTI/GTD's will now all come with Discover Nav (equivalent to MIB2 Amundsen), Winter Pack and Keyless Entry after much speculation. The R doesnt get the kit. This is following the release of the GTD estate and its increased spec over the hatch. Happy as likely to be ordering a GTD soon all being well.

My thoughts.....those that ordered a vRS with free Amundsen and are build week 22 or later will get MIB2 and it can really only be the 6.5" version. I believe Skoda will retract the offer v soon and cars will soon just be delivered with MIB2 Bolero; depending on when people ordered and their build weeks will decide if theyve been lucky enough to get MIB2 Amundsen for free.

Same for the Mk7 Golfs....some people ordered before the MY16 price rises and have week 22 or later build weeks and will be getting about £1500 of extras for the price of the lower spec car. Thats happy days right there.

Guys, I have posted on other threads with similar topics is Smartgate and MIB2 the same thing or have anything in common?? I only ask as I took delivery today of my new vRS and it has the free Amundsen sat nav upgrade and it has wifi connectivity, please excuse the lack of knowledge!!

I can't answer that question Steveo82, but related and out of interest what is the size of the screen diagonally corner to corner ?

Finally back on the site after figuring out that they turned off tapatalk!  Anyway no new update from me speaking with Skoda UK (they are still trying to get answer from the marketing/technical team on UK skoda's)

One new thing though was that I managed to change my 2.8% finance deal to the 0% finance deal!!

I'll check tomorrow Mr Grump but it looks like the standard Amundsen screen, measurements to follow!

rob_e- Will do mate

This is all very exciting, looking forward to the next installment from steveo82

Wifi is probably because of smartgate, do you know if you have that?

Smartgate is a way to download driving data to apps on your smartphone.

Smartlink lets you control your phone from the screen in the car.

I do have smartgate yes and as per my original post, does smartgate resemble MIB2 or are they completely different?? I don't know as I have had the car for around 8 hours!

@Steveo82 - Did you order Smart Link as well?

MIB2 will either be a 6.5" screen or no cd player in the glove box (if you have neither you will have MIB1)

Smartgate is getting driving data and being able to use apps from your phone to interact with your car, from your phone screen, specific skoda apps you can download from app store. (such as getting throttle position, brake position, seeing mpg)

Smartlink is seeing your phone screen on the screen in your car. This relates to things like Android Auto and Apple Car Play and is the most interesting one. It let's you put things like spotify into your car screen and read out and reply to text messages from your car screen too. Smartlink is the thing we are all wanting to figure out as it just came out and no one has it yet!

Hi, I am new to the site.

I ordered a new Octavia VRS TDi (Man) Estate at the beginning of May and it is due to be built towards the end of June.

Am really enjoying this thread because I too cannot wait to find out about the Amundsen sat nav and whether it will be the MIB2.

Smartgate does not have anything to do with MIB2. Its totally unrelated.

The moment my daughter saw the driving app on the smart gate video (kids can "drive" the car on the ipad using the smart gate data) it was going to be impossible to get out of adding that option!

Waiting with baited breath for the first Amundsen/Smart Link equipped car to come in!
