There is an interesting item in Honest John's Motoring Agony Column this week. It is from a frustrated Ford buyer whose car has been at the shipping port for 4 weeks with no idea of when it will be shipped. He is being told that even when it gets to the UK it will be at least several weeks before it is delivered to him. It is now some 6 weeks overdue the promised delivery date and no one at Ford seems to be able to tell him anything. Sound familiar??

HJ was pretty dismissive and is more or less saying that it is the way of the world for delivery of new cars. I think he is right in the sense that it is always a risk you take when buying 'off plan' rather than from built stock. Doesn't make it right but there you go.................

Better communication with customers does not cost a lot.................

Not so sure about that given the numbers of vehicles being produced and organisations involved in the supply chain. Lets face it it would be a miracle if all the info they have about all those vehicles was always up to date and correct. I am sure they give you what they know. Getting info that you don't want to hear is not poor comms it is just bl***y frustrating!

Hi Sagalout,

I was not thinking about individual information but general , i.e. we have problems with supply ofxxxxx  Of course this might be considered sensitive info so no chance, but as you say xxxx frustrating !

I have been reading this thread for some time and was told last week that my car will be delivered to my home on 28th April. Now originally I was told 16-18 weeks and from that point decided Ill wait 14 weeks before contacting the dealer so as not to get worried about build dates, shipping dates, delivery to dealer dates, etc etc etc, So when I received the call last week to tell me my car would be delivered next week, 12 weeks from order I was delighted and not disappointed several times before I even get my hands on the car.

I'm sure they could open up their own information systems with simplified, customer friendly info on a website. Enter your order num and postcode and its says where it is the process. The local pizza delivery service can do it...

I feel for you.....they seem to have a delay on anything to do with leather....beige and now black....I would ask for plastic patio chairs, but I expect there will be a delay on that!!!

The leasing company have placed the order on a different dealer and they have quoted 29th July - about - 14 weeks?!? Will believe it when I see it but would be good if I do get it then - it's my birthday!!

When I placed my order last week, my dealer told me that Skoda customer services would keep me informed via email throughout the process. Does that actually happen in reality? I haven't received any confirmation or estimated build week etc yet but only 1 week in. I know when I ordered my Octavia vRS 6 years ago I was guilty of pestering my dealer for updates as my then car (a fiat stilo) was dying a slow and painful death. This time I'm going to be sad to see the vRS go, so as much as I'm looking forward to getting the new car, I'm in no desperate rush....famous last words.

No. They will email you when you place the order and when it goes into the factory. They won't give you a build week - you can get that from your dealer or from Skoda CS if you ring them with the SLI number (which your dealer can provide you with).

My dealer provides me with updates on my order every 2 weeks, which so far they have done like clockwork. Next update should be tomorrow!

One of the lucky ones. Proactive isn't a word you'd associate with my dealer....

Hi,

In your dreams ! SUK promised at the start of the year to ring me every two weeks with a update , still waiting for first call..........................

Only thing i had from SUK was a Email "inviting " me to order more bits for the car. Dealer does Email me when something happens.

Dont know which is the hardest to find -- hens with teeth or praise for SUK !

Just had a call from the dealer to say that my car should have been with them yesterday but there is a backlog at the docks and it still has not left. I'm away at the moment and signed all the paperwork on Thursday and arranged to collect on Saturday when I return but they have told me that they may still not have the car by then. Not good seeing as I have arranged swapping over the insurance and was just about to sort getting rid of the old car. Have asked for them to call me Friday to let me know what is happening.

Just arrived at Grimsby docks. Wonder how long now!!

My dealer has just updated me and he has told me that my car is now at status 20 and will be built next week. Time to start getting excited...

Any chance you can dispense with the bold and italics on every post you make 'david 1220'? No need.

Voice message left by my dealer this morning - "Your car is now shipped". Hopefully not long to go now.

Had a call from dealer this afternoon to say my car will be with him by the end of the week. We've agreed collection at 1000 hours next Wednesday, so that will give me a full two weeks play before I go on my trip to The Continent.

Is anyone with a 2015 order date still waiting ?

ordered Friday 19th Feb - build week 15 w/c 11th April

built - build week 15 and released on Thursday 14th April

At Emden - awaiting to be shipped to Sheerness

Yep -- ordered 11/12/2015, car last heard of sunbathing in the compound at Emden a week ago.

Apparently mine left factory this morning and is on way to Emden :-) Almost feel I can start getting excited now!

Is anyone with a 2015 order date still waiting ?

Well, technically i ordered in 2015 but paid my deposit on 3'rd of January, so it was ordered from factory on the 3rd...at least that's what they told me.

Estimated build is week 26..so more than 2 months to go...

I'm pretty sure everyone that has ordered their superb before me has gotten it by now. (From my dealer)

Last time i asked was 2 weeks ago and they said only 3 undelivered cars were ordered before mine.

So...every car they get now was ordered after mine.... -.-

Is anyone with a 2015 order date still waiting ?

Yes, ordered between Christmas and New Year, car was built a few weeks ago and apparently has been in the UK for over 3 weeks and still no sign of it at the dealers! Was supposed to be picking it up on this Saturday but last I heard that was not very likely to happen. Will be really busy with work when I get back from my hols so don't know when I will get a chance to pick it up, but will probably be a few weeks, let's hope the dealer is not keen for me to collect it when they get it, they can wait for a change until I'm ready.

Very excited ! Ordered 190 DSG hatch L&K Capuccino with Beige Leather, ACC and Driver assist on 27th November, and am collecting tomorrow ! After originally been told I'd get the car by end January, and then had a delay due to no beige leather, the garage and Skoda Ireland have been great. The garage even took my old Volvo v70 in February and gave me a one year old Octavia DSG for free until I get my car tomorrow !
