  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Liking the piping dude - too job !

Did I hear someone mention cake?

Nothing to see here Chris, move on......!!!!!

Took a deliberate ride in the rain into Birmingham. Good for keeping the concentration levels high and reminding myself of what I used to have to do.

Cleaned and lubed the bike when I got home. Stuck her in the garage once dry.......looking lovely again.

Talking of rain.  Today the shed arrives and it is pi$$ing down!  Still looking on the bright side I am not putting it up. :D

Whilst we are on the subject of precipitation.  We came back from a three night stay in the Lakes yesterday and it was raining every bit of the way.  Made a 'slight' detour on the way back to call in at Richmond for this:-

Must of been a good trip then Chris, if there was cake? :D

Well like Chris The Cake it's been shed Friday. Delivery took place in a deluge but installation was dry which was great. I am chuffed to bits with the result, very very solid.post-107871-0-93946900-1446224102_thumb.jpg

Looks good! Top stuff!

That isn't a shed it is a garage!

Didn't have cake today as an ex colleague came to see me so it was beer instead. Hence no pictures. Shed is up but work this out. Back of shed is as close to the wall as it can be so they decide to erect the shed first THEN put the guttering on the back wall!

Anyway I will put a picture up tomorrow, hopefully with the bike to inside. Then I think we will need cake to celebrate!

Beer is even better, surely. I like beer (:

Lookin forward to the pics chris (:

After numerous test rides I finally put down a deposit on a R1200GS TE which should be here for Christmas. Went for Red with the lowered suspension option in the end due to my lack of height.

Thanks. Us old folks like our comfort LOL. The GSA would have been 'too' for me....too tall, too heavy and too expensive but **** me does it have uber road presence. The boxer is rather marmite and not to everyones taste. I have mine on toast at lunchtime...

Great choice of bike. Hope you enjoy it.

Which dealer did you use if you don't mind me asking?

Lol its fill the mancave day today ! The wife's already installed a tumble Dryer so need to keep a check on that.

bikes will be in tomorrow as I need to concrete a ramp in today.

Properly chuffed with the shed, so much room !

Good shout fella ! Don't forget pictures when it arrives !!

I don't think I can put the bike in there just yet as the block paving isn't finished and I don't want to run over the edge of the loose blocks.  So I may have to wait until later on Monday to try it.  I will need a ramp as well as there is about 5" - 6" step to get over and I am thinking chequer plate that I can put down and rest on the lip of the door opening and then pick it up and stow it when not used.  Just need to find where I can source some locally.

Pictures later..........promise!

Yeah I thought about some chequer plate but need a permanent solution so concrete it is.

Put the cake down and get the camera out Chris !!!!! :-))

At least the weather is good for getting stuff sorted today.

Ah yeah. Me too tbh. Its a tank of a thing lol.

1,000 miles a day sort of thing, not just for buzzing about to the local shops lol.

Im sure youll love it (:

Thanks. It just seemed to tick more boxes for me.

I went with Blade at Licky end in Birmingham in the end. I could probably have got it a bit cheaper if I'd pushed my luck but I got a reasonable discount and part of the deal is they get the bike before the end of December so I get the free nav5 which is normally 600 notes. The thing that swung it was Blade also have a dealer order in the pipeline that they could change if my customer order isn't going to arrive on time. I've never taken so long to choose a bike - The Triumph Explorer was in the mix too, it was a lot cheaper and a nice bike but ultimately it was top heavy compared to the BM and at 20kg over the weight of the GS was more of a handful for a small bloke like me at very low speeds especially as SWMBO will be riding pillion. Looking on tinternet it seems Triumph have got semi active suspension and low seat options for next year but I didn't want to have to wait that long for my bike.

Nice choice............buying a bike is not so easy as a car as there are more variables to consider.

I did not even know Clarks BMW had become Blade.

Enjoy it.

So here they are then as promised!  Been and bought some stain for it today.  They left a tin of treatment for it but it is clear and we wanted it darker.  It 'just' cuts out the view of the neighbours windows so we cannot gawp at each other.

We will have the rest of the block paving finished on Monday and we will ring up the electrician then to come and wire it up with lights and power.  I am considering whether to insulate and line it inside but will see how cold and damp it is this winter in there before I go to that sort of added expense.
