Have you considered fitting a Pedal Box to improve the throttle response? I fitted a RaceChip XLR pedal box to my wife's 1.5 DSG Karoq which cured the hesitation it had. It takes 30 mins to fit & can be removed just as quick. Alternatively tweek the throttle response with VCDS software - I believe there is a setting called Audi Throttle! So9me say it does improve things but others say it does.

Last but not least have the ECU modified but that would probably void the warranty if a dealer found out. My 280 now pushes out 360bhp after I had a Revo stage 1 remap done. It has so much extra torque that D mode is all I need for day to day driving & quick speed pick up. In S mode it is a bit of a hooligan so I use it very sparingly.

Another vote for a pedal box to sort the bluetack like throttle response.

I fitted a DTUK box and run it in sport plus mode, its so much better that when I turn it off for a garage service (don't want them launching into a ramp unexpectedly!) it becomes horrible for me to drive!

Do you have the wheel paddles? I now use a combination of disabling start/stop in certain places (some junctions, roundabouts) and either go into sport or manual mode for the initial pull away - that way it does behave like a 280bhp car and moves quickly without constantly trying to get into the highest gear possible half way across a junction or roundabout....

I'm afraid its your good self who doesn't know what they are talking about ... Contrary to popular myth the DSG does not learn your driving style or anything even remotely similar. As you are just 'finding your way here' I suggest you do some proper research before accusing long standing and respected members that they do not know what they are talking about ..... 🙄

Oh dear…. OK, yes, the DSG box can be reset, but what it cannot do, because it is not crammed-full with AI, so it cannot, does not and will not learn your “driving style” regardless of what your VAG specialist might tell you. So before you start being rude to someone who knows what he is talking about, go away and properly educate yourself matey. Oh and just to educate you on another fact, not everything you see and read on the internet is real….bit like you believing a gearbox can “learn” your driving style.

….and yeah, it really annoyed me too, so it’s yet another vote for a pedal box, which in my case is a Racechip XLR too.
Interestingly, even with it set to “normal”, so the unit is back to the “factory setting” as it were but it’s still inline and working, the throttle lag is still eliminated. 
However, I have mine set to “Race” permanently, as is the GTS Black Tuning Box. The car can still be driven completely normally until I give the loud one a bit of a shove, and then it’s off like an attacking Cobra… which was always my dream, to have a car which accelerated as quickly as a 289, but without having to spend the £1.2m to get that feeling. In reality though, it doesn’t go that fast; it’s actually faster. 😁 Yeah, yeah, so it doesn’t have that screaming V8 soundtrack (nor the very, very tricky handling, thank gawd!) but in this weather, with the windows open, a bit of wellie and the DSG flicking through the gears, it doesn’t sound half bad either!

Even with a remap mine still has a bit of lag taking off in D. Not a problem if its in S mode but that can mean rather savage acceleration which isn't always needed. As mentioned elsewhere I have a Racechip XLR on my wifes' Karoq which we are selling soon so I think I'll switch it over to my Superb & see what it can do.

What i found is that without the throttle controller or set to 0, the throttle responds better as its been mapped.  With the throttle controller it felt there was lag.

 

I would definitely recommend a throttle controller to anyone who hasn't or doesn't to go down the remapping route.

Well no sooner said than done. Yanked the Racechip XLR out my wife's Karoq (while she was out) & fitted to my Superb. I wonder if she will notice it's gone?

Exact same connections & pedal layout.

It does make a difference in the Superb. I'm not sure that N (normal) mode on the Racechip adds anything in D mode but S & S+ mode on the Racechip certainly do. R (Race) mode is a bit bonkers in D so I won't be using that setting. If I want bonkers acceleration I'll put the DSG in Sport mode & listen to the wailing of the twin flap assisted exhausts as the engine races up to just over the redline before gear changes. 

Its early days using it in my car so I'll see how I get on with it. Certainly better to re-use it than to let it go with the Karoq when we sell it.

Not really. Before the remap there was always a bit of a "dead spot" between idle & the first bit of pedal travel. After the remap it was still there albeit reduced. Personally I think it's the lag on the turbo spooling up more than anything else.

 

Now with the RC XLR on S+ setting it does sharpen it up in D mode which now feels more like the old DSG S mode but there is still a tiny bit of hesitation. TBF I am spitting hairs here because once it gets off the line the pick up is very fast. 

What I have noticed is that in D mode it changes up lower in the rev range & uses the increased Torque (from the remap) to gain rapid forward motion. I have a K&N air filter fitted & you can hear the roar of the air being sucked into the engine just after each gearchange.

Put the XLR into R or R+ (Race) mode & with S mode selected on the DSG it becomes a Hooligan. Very rapid. Almost too rapid & the gearchanges become quite savage. Don't think I'll be using that mode unless I take down the Santa Pod 1/4 mile. 🏎️

I had one of those 🙂 Dax with a a 289. Wish A still had it now !

Can I ask what remap you have and do you also have TCU tune?

It's not the lag from the turbo spool, ive got a bigger turbo and it's still there!  It's the way Skoda have setup the files in the ECU map in comparison to a Golf R - the files setup different and only a handful tuners in the know can tune them correctly tbh.

 

I still get some hesitation low down in "normal/drive" mode when i push the throttle down - it's like the car is thinking a few secs to make a decision!  This is with and without the throttle controller.

Respectfully, that comment is a bit full-on for Briskoda.

I understand the energy, but things are a bit more chill on Brisky than some other corners of the internet.

Speaking from experience, I appreciate it can be disorienting to re-calibrate your tone from somewhere like Twitter or the free-for-all chaos of 4chan, down to the more sedate and measured tone of Briskoda, but you get your head around it.

Also, do bear in mind that there are some very knowledgeable people on here, and collaborative debate with them is always going to be the most productive way to reach an accurate consensus on an issue, even if you just agree to disagree at the end.

I believe there is an "Audi Throttle" setting that can be activated / adjusted with VCDS / HEX software which sharpens up the throttle response. Some reports say it works & others say it doesn't make any difference. Worth a try if you have software (I don't). 

In fact I would be interested in a group "software change day" if within reasonable distance of my home & be prepared to pay a reasonable fee for the privilege of having some settings tweaked / activated e.g. Scandi rear DRLs, speed sign recognition & other hidden features.

AFAIK, the throttle is just a rheostat and as such, sensitivity can be changed via software. I’ve no idea why the first 10mm or so is deliberately deadened, but I’ve found the XLR eliminates this “feature”, even when it’s set to “normal” which is supposed to be BS = Bog Standard

What I noticed is that with the throttle controller and a stg3 remap my fuel consumption isn't great when driving normally.  I've switched the Throttle Contoller off and its seems to be better!

Early days yet but so far I've not seen any change in mpg. After the Stg 1 remap the mpg stayed pretty much the same as the stock engine at 25 around town & up to 36-38mpg on a run.

In eco mode perhaps, but I doubt if anyone fitting a Throttle Pedal is going to run it in Eco mode.

As always it's down to how the car is driven. I don't rag mine but I do like to get up to the road speed limit quickly & then cruise along in top gear as much as possible. Originally I had the XLR set for R+ mode but found it too aggressive so backed it off to R then S+ then S where it is now.

 

As I suspected my wife has not said anything since I took the XLR out of her Karoq & put it into my Superb.
