I like the second one and can see it's both cool and cute, but the first image is almost unbearably cute. I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back on its wheels at last!

  • Wento for a quick trip to the petrol station. Got sidetracked. I am loving this car! It sounds like it's gargling on the fuel not just drinking it, what an awesome sound!

I've been wandering around the car this afternoon trying to work out what do do first. So I started re-assembling the rear end. Need to remove the lights and seal them properly.

I didn't get as much time as I wanted to on my day off work today, but I got the door handles re-fitted, makes it a lot easier to get in now.  :D Of course it took ages, I couldn't get the first one working properly, until I realised a small but critical bit was missing, so I had to dig out the spare one from the GT, then it was all good.

13411942_789967814436850_135702848180054

I had to remove the front bumper to re-fit the fog lights and indicators.

13442477_789967841103514_603746425692939

It took ages to get it re-fitted and it was too dark to take a decent pic.

There are cat paw prints on it already, grr.

13413680_789967821103516_344622124926770

Also I need to work out how to get all this sticky stuff off. I wish I'd thought about it when the window was out.

Use brake cleaner, brilliant stuff. Alcohol based so leaves no residue. Has a few nasties in it as well so avoid the temptation to make it into a long stiff drinkie.

Re-fitted the front lights. Mostly because it's nicer to look at. They'll have to come out again to sort the wiring out. There are spare wires too.

On the other light the grey bulb holder disintegrated. Better look for another!

I didn't think you could improve on the original car until I saw that

Quattro +Kiwi = Yay :)

Dammit. Didn't notice this before. And the spare from the donor car is wobbly. Hopefully I can make one good one out of the two.

I bought a rear plate frame with a reversing camera built in but I had to cut it down to fit. The screen is in the rear view mirror.
Adding some mod cons in as subtle a way as possible.

I pulled the heated seat wiring out last night. Now it looks much less daunting. Haha.

Apologies for terrible phone pics

Some tidying was done of the driver's side wiring.

And this is actually more organised, honest!

I couldn't face any more of the tangle under the dash so I started installing the loom for the new central locking.

It's almost long enough.

And I got the boot opening actuator installed. There happened to be two holes in the perfect spot.

It's all wired in with the relay in place, but I haven't worked out the fuse box connections yet so no live :D

I got the passenger side locking actuator in. Went to do the driver's side one and the part that connects the lock to the mechanism was missing. No idea where I put it, so I pulled one out of the GT spare door, but it was a bit rusty.
So I made a replacement out of one of the spare bits from the locking kit. It took a few more revisions before it worked, this was attempt 1.

Wow, look at this wreck, sold for over 8 grand!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-SPORT-UR-QUATTRO-COUPE-BARN-FIND-RESTORATION-PROJECT-RAREST-CLASSIC-/272283463883?hash=item3f655bf0cb%3Ag%3Ah5QAAOSwnNBXalpC&nma=true&si=q5p0BUICZCmO9p3Rb72tyg7siF0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

My non-wreck now has the central locking actuators all wired and fitted. Then I distracted myself from the wiring by re-fitting some of the external trim, then swearing copiously at the rear window trims.

No matter how much lube I used I could only get the stiff rod halfway into the crevice.

Sorry.

A bit of scrubbing with CarPro interior cleaner and the C pillar trims were ready to re-fit.

A bit more work needed to get them right, and those seatbelts look rough, must see what I can do with them
