choosing a funeral song

I'm in the process of choosing my last song and it's been a hard process I kid you not these are my final 2

1 Peggy Lee the family that live on the hill

2 frank sinatra it's been a very good year

Both songs are quite sad but uplifting I will choose a more upbeat song for the first song , maybe status quo rocking all over the world?

Good choice, you have to have a bit of Francis Albert. I might have 'come fly with me'  :D

Others I have considered are:

The long and winding road -The Beatles

One of these days - Pink Floyd

Many too Many - Genesis

New York state of mind - Billy Joel

Ghost riders in the sky- Johnny Cash

"Bring him home" from Les Mis sung by Colm Wilkinson............reduce everyone to a sobbing mess........... :'(  :'( :'(

TBO, I have some very obscure personal choices but that's me, had selected the "Peal Fishers duet" for a family members funeral......again........ :'(

Brian Wilson - Love & Mercy.

make sure you make it clear to your family what you want - even include a USB with the specific songs / arrangements.

At Mum's funeral last year Dad vetoed Shirley Bassey's  "Hey Big Spender" even though it was her favourite song & she really was a big spender.  It was disappointing but his choice of Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable" was equally appropriate so we didn't argue the toss.

Don't forget, the funeral isn't just about you.

Die MF Die - Dope

For whom the bell tolls - Metallica

Left behind - Slipknot

Just for the shock factor.

Less stupidly I always thought "The End" by the Doors was a good one.

NOT safe for work.

Rock and Roll never felt so good will be played at my funeral.

I've offended a great many people in life, so hopefully I'll nab a few more in death.

Blending in is boring. I want my funeral to be in very poor taste, so I've also insisted

on fancy dress (Theme to be decided).

Being offended is the only way some people can tell that they are alive,

those people need to be and should be offended as often as possible otherwise

what's the point of them stealing my oxygen. :finger:

Lyrics if you dare.

My neighbour a few years ago had.... Fire! by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown played as her final song as the curtains were closed around the coffin (cremation)

Infact she had mostly heavy metal stuff as her tunes, not sure whether it was her choice or her sons.

One of the best suggestion i heard was Return to Sender - Elvis , quite apt

Cant believe no one has suggested Dust in the wind yet , that might be high on my list for the cliche of it
