What did you do to your Skoda today pt2

Featured Replies

I err, didn't pick it up. My other one? well I took that to get some money to not buy the other one with. I also went to enquirer about the price of paint for re-spraying the Octy. Not going to cost a fortune and if I use either red, blue or Yellow it will cost less as he has some left over from other jobs that he's willing to sell for less. Maybe I will use red, yellow, blue and green? What do ya think?

Disclaimer, the image is based on a photo I found on Google, this is not the car in question, and although it does look real this is not the actual colour of the car in the photo.

But I'm kinda liking the idea of Harlequinne Octy.

Just like a VW Polo Harlequin!

Oh deer, what a coincidence it appears that it has already been done. Shame, I'll have to can that idea now.

Ha ha, that's my inspiration. There's a handy chart for the 4 different variations that they did:

I think you should do it anyway :)

Took the isofix base out of the citigo and replaced it with an axkid minikid belt secured ERF seat.

fits perfectly

Thiugh i did need to do the rolled up towel trick due to the slope-iness of the seat..

may orser the proper block support

You learn something every day. I had no idea there were 4 different versions of this!

Different, but I kind of like the idea of that in some weird and wonderful way!

Major advantage - if you have a prang, you can get a oanel off any scrapper and it wont look overly out of place :D

Took the Octy to the garage since the n/s headlight has at some stage been put back in place out of the guide rails so it was jammed in.

Last night 3 guys stood in the rain trying to help as the garage closed and this afternoon they sorted it in an hour and changed the bulb all for £28.

There will be plenty of opportunities to crash it anyway. News is it is coming to my house tomorrow at 6

Topped up the fluids, again. Really should do something about that coolant leak from the heater control valve -- I think it just needs a new gasket, and I have the gasket paper -- and a quick check for oil leaks (including pulling the plugs to see if it's burning it excessively.); but strong winds, rain/sleet/hail/snow, and a general lack of effort prevailed.

Hit a pothole at 4am this morning...

Claim is in with Highways England.

Replaced on of the reversing bulbs in the pouring rain

Put my name on the log book. That's right, it is here. Project thread coming tomorrow.

Got grumpy as new dipped beam bulb from the garage is dimmer than the off side it came with 4 years ago.

Grrr.

Pulled the plugs just to check if there's any oil ending up in there. Nope, no oil; they were bone white, which is a little concerning. So I finally got around to prodding the inspection cam in there; and the tops of the pistons don't look amazingly happy; almost as if it's been running incredibly lean for too long.

So a day of chasing vacuum leaks, and replacing hoses, has ensued. I can now report that it runs a little bit better, and that the brakes are thoroughly vicious with full vacuum assist. Still dies just off-idle, O2 sensor doesn't seem to be showing any noticable voltage (I wonder if that might be why it's apparently running crazy lean?), and the heater core is still leaking.

On the bright side, the radiator fan has spontaneously started working again, which is nice.

Drove it to Chatham for a meeting then drove back home - 330 mile round trip.

Did get a free lunch at the pub though.

Drove it to the office. deove it home again.

Avoided being crashed into several times on the way.

Filled it with diesel... 105.9/litre (about 78p...)

Did an oil and filter change today. Bloody windy but at least it wasn't raining!

Stripped the lower dash area and center console out of the Octy today.

Full Hunter Alignment carried out after recently fitting a full set of Uniroyal RS3's

Taxed it. Another £110 spent.

Then service and MOT at the start of next month...

Then tax and insure the bike in March too.

Everything always ends up at the same time :D

Realised the service is due now!
