That is significant damage! I can understand why you are really choked up about it. :(

I went back to my vRS two weeks ago to find similar damage - TBH its not quite as severe as yours (£700+vat) but in exactly the same position

So i can reallysay " I know how you feel":(

there is no way that could be done without the driver knowing .... unless he/she/it was pi55ed

the r sole that did mine didn't leave a note either:mad:

i've been ranting all day practically.. I was due to be off to see the girlfriend in wigan, but whoever done this has completed f.c.u.k.ed my weekend over and as I normally head back to Oxford every sunday night, they've messed my week up aswell.

The crap thing is, I think I heard it happen in the early hours.. all I remember hearing is a bang and a diesel engine driving off, but it was early, dark and cold - so I didn't find out until this morning. That's when I went off on my rant.

All I can see is that it's a red vehicle of some description given the amount of paint work they've ditched onto my vehice. The car isn't drivable at the moment. The alloy is wrecked and the tyre looks to be slow punctured. brand new tyres aswell!!! nearly 80,000 miles and no incidents - then along comes some sh!t and whacks my car..

I've reported it to the police as a Failure to stop RTA. It's going to take 72 hours apparantly before I get a crime ref.no for my insurance.

I feel like I've had a limb taken away from me.. :(

Regards,

really bad news

mines ok to drive ... (after a bit of work) , but it really got to me - 78,000 miles in under 2 years with an unmarked car the some rsole does that .... and of course some muppets then decide its hilarious to imply i did it my self.... if'd i'd bent it i'd do a far better job than that:(

sorry, where are my manners - I should have said sorry to hear about your similar whacking.. my mind is a little pre-occupied. I feel society is going downhill something badly with incidents like this..

Regards,

I feel for you, and thank my lucky stars that I have a driveway. Scum of the earth is all I can say.

thats terrible :( i dont blame you for being so mad. terrible how people can do this

Curious - they issue them here (Gloucestershire) when you report an incident...

It's one thing getting minor scrapes in car parks, but that level of damage ... :gnasher:

Hopefully you have guaranteed no claims? Excess = shudder. Very sorry, can only commiserate

really really feel for you, i was so ****ed off that someone had pranged my in a car park opening a door... so how your feeling must be awful. Can see how well u look after the car by how clean it is.

Guess this is the start of 24h pubs.

Hope you get it sorted, all you need before christmas really isnt it. Keep us posted how it goes.

Something similiar happened my sister, a fella drunk tried to take a bend outside my parents house (in an estate, he'd had an arguement in a house party). Dad jumped out of the bed to the bang and the guy drove off. He followed him down the road (mam obviously thought he would get him). He ended up coming down a hill and not being able to take the turn and hit the bank.

Sisters car is a write off (pity as it never gave a days trouble, and Mam was warming to the idea of taking it to learn to drive when sister upgrading).

I think she got more than the cars value off the guy, a Leaving the scene of an accident would got down well along with a Drink Driving charge.

Nightmare. Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully the driver of the other car was ****ed and went on to put himself into intensive care.

thanks for the support.

there's not much to report at the moment. insurance company have given me two options:-

1. Get a quote and pay the excess - don't lose any no claims that way.

2. Let them sort it out and then lose two years off my no claims (from 5 years down to 3 years).

I ain't chuffed with either option :( - I've no idea how much it would cost given the damage. The insurance company obviously recommend 'their own approved' repairers, i.e. the nearest joe bloggs to me on their books.

What do you think? If the garage/insurance company turn around and say its a write off. Should I believe them? Should I not ask for the car back and get it transported to a Skoda dealer for an opinion? Obviously you can't really see all the damage in intricate detail from the photos I posted, but what do you reckon costs wise?

Bearing in mind this is 1.9TDi Fabia Hatch Elegance - 52 reg and has 78,000 on the clock (no mods to car). I think it was around

I wouldn't think it were a write off.

Depending on your excess amount that would be the option for me I think.

Sorry to hear about this mate, mine was damaged recently (no where near as much as yours) but things like this wind me right up. Some people have no respect or care for other peoples property.

No danger of that being a write off.

If it's just bodywork then probably

Really really sorry to see the damage on your car, but it got me to thinking, as i also live in Manchester. Last Sunday(20/11), the boyfriend of the woman who lives opposite to me, parked his car up along the side of her house. Nothing unusual you

Sorry to hear that.

SWMBO had a prang left on her car which isn't quite as bad as yours, but she was fuming too - no name / number and impact was big enough for it not to go unnoticed.

Have you spoken to your neighbours or any other witnesses? Worth a go I think :)

I think you have to tell the police. A lot of people including me (and i'm ashamed) have bumped into another car, found no damage at all to the other car and driven on. What you described though is very different. Imagine it was your car he hit.

I know you are right, but he didn

Of course you are right and I will probably ring the Police tomorrow and see if I can speak to them anonymously.[/size']

Of course you should call the police. I have done so under similar circumstances and they treated it sensitively. If they want a statement, you can ask that they meet you at work or a friend's house so they aren't seen visiting you. You can give them the clue they need to start looking at the right person and car, but it's most unlikely that your evidence would be needed in court so your identity is safe. Do it today and you will be glad you did!

Sorry to hear about your car. I can't believe some people these days, they just have no respect for anything anymore, they were probably ****ed and didn't want to get into trouble. Good luck with getting it sorted, I hope they catch the sod who did it too you.

Really sorry to hear about the damage to your car. The self same thing happened to my old Vaxuhall Astra a couple of years ago. I heard this massive bang followed by tyre screeching and frenetic revving when it was parked outside of a friends house. I ran outside only to finbd my car looking very much like yours.

The funny thing is the areswipe that hit me left his front bumper behind together with his number plate!

Police couldn't do anything tho because it was a stolen car and my faithful Astra was a write off adter 80,000 miles of flawless service.

Sorry again mate.
