Help TSI stuck between gears

Featured Replies

Hi folks, new member first post.

I really need help.

Basically I broke down today, 61 plate soda fabia 1.2 TSI auto.

I started car fine put it into D pulled off and drove 10 meters, reversed (to turn around) and a almighty grind noise happened but it rolled back,

I put it in D and EPC light engine light and flashing spanner come on.

Turned off engine turned back on and put it in D and it will not pull off just rev's

Rolled down the hill a little (10 meters or so) and turned off and on and same thing. If I put it in R as soon as my foot leaves the break it crunches again.

Rac come out done diagnosis and he says it's stuck between gears. He Took negative off battery (don't know why) and tried again. When I put it in D the display flashes S under the D at same time, if that makes sense.

It some times just flashes what ever gear I'm in ( D or N or R) with a little spanner too

anyway got towed home and I'm completely stuck as I know nothing about cars.

Also I had to roll it down hill to flat ground and even if it was in N it sounded like it was half in gear like a grinding kind of noise

What the hell should I do?

Got a cheap fault reader plugged in but not finding anything, can't tow it as wheels need to come off floor. Also I'm skint!

Any help will be great

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear of the issue, bad luck there.

Was your car in for the Service Campaign work on the DSG,  or were you notified of it.

If it has been done then you have some come back on the Dealership that did it,

or on Skoda UK,  because the work should be guaranteed, and there should have been an extended Warranty like in other regions.

If the work was not done, or Skoda said not needed, still call Skoda UK Customer Services and ask about the known issue with the

DQ200 DSG, and if they are going to take any corporate responsibility.

So has your DSG had the OIl Changed from Synthetic to Mineral, and the Software Update done.

Service Campaign started May 2014 in the UK.

Hi thanks for quick reply, I have had the car 1 year. I'm not sure if it's been done or not. Is there a way of checking?

Oh just checked the link,

Dear customer,

No relevant recall campaigns have been launched by ŠKODA for the entered VIN TMBFN25J4C3099529.

Should I ring soda ? And ask for an engineer?

Have a look in the boot at the spare tyre well and see if there is a sticker therr to show the service campaign work was done. The thread I bumped shows what mean. If it was done call Skoda, you might have comeback on them. Sorry on a phone.

I think there is a gearbox reset arrangement.  If I remember correctly, you need to lever off the gearshift gaiter and there is some kind of small lever or handle to reset the gearbox.  Have a look in your manual if you have one or you might find something on line.  Good luck with this and let us know how you get on.

Inside the car under the actual gear stick?

Thanks for your help guys

Just had a look can only see like a yellow pull pin thing? Is that it?

That is for when you can not get the Gear Lever out of 'P'.

Flat Battery, fuse blown etc

see page 101 of owners manual.

I cant see anything in users manual no, and new ish battery and it was only few hours after long ish (20 mile) drive

Sorry we are talking at cross purposes.

Your problem is likely the Mechatronic Control unit,  or Software / ECU for the DSG

& you have the gearstick moving, the DSG is messed up.

re Post #10,

what i am saying is the 'Unlock' procedure is not something that will help with the issue.

That is for when the Gear lever can not be moved from 'P'.

EDIT.

Sorry, page 103.

'Selector Lever Emergency Unlock'

This is not going to help you out.

I don't think this is something you will be able to fix for little or no cost on your driveway at home. Best take it to a dealer or reputable independent garage to get a trained technician to diagnose the issue. Sounds like it's possibly going to be a very expensive fix though. Unless of course as already pointed out above you can somehow get Skoda UK to contribute to the cost. They will need to know exactly what is wrong with the car however at the start of that conversation. Hence I'd bite the bullet and take it to a dealer asap. Good luck with getting it sorted! :-)

Ok thanks folks

Could you look in the boot beside the sticker with the vehicles details,

see if there is a sticker showing

'34F7',  to show that the service campaign work has been done.

Then best call Skoda UK Customer services and see what Service / Warranty record is on the car,

ie was the Machatronic Control Unit checked already.

Ask them on the phone, get a Handler and get anything they say confirmed in writing.

?

How many miles on your car, and what sort of Service Record of work done by Skoda Official Dealerships?

Im in proccess with skoda, no sticker in boot,

Just been told it could just be the clutch needs sorting/replacing any thoughts on that?

Going in garage verry soon.

The Clutch Packs have been a common issue since 2010, (Quality Control issue with VW / Skoda, and a software issue)

not so much with the CTHE Engine cars since late 2012.

But then so have the Mechatronic Control Units been an issue, and hence a Service Campaign & cars needing new MCUs & Clutch packs on occasion.

But then Skoda UK knows all that as should a Skoda Dealership Master Technician or even the Workshop Manager.

This is what Skoda New Zealand did. (in the link below, they say because of the Corrosion Problem & loss of drive.)

New MCU with the Service Campaign.   in the UK just the Oil changed and a Software Update.

*Skoda UK must be saying your DSG had Mineral Oil in from the Factory and did not need the Service Campaign work'.*

Ask for that to be confirmed in writing, just so it is clear they have no responsibility for any failures,

and it is just 'Clutch Pack Failure,

they can check, they can ask Skoda CZ, they can ask VW Germany,

ask whoever they think knows, because they have a bit of a mix up on what is in which DQ200 DSG and when.
