No Sound on Sat Nav annoncements

Featured Replies

I can not get any sound to the sat nav announcements, I have gone through all the sections without luck. have visual directions but no voice,I have used voice control to ask for it to be switched on and the kind lady tells me that it is switched on so there is sound there.Either the previous owner or I have inadvertently switched it off. What are the dangers of going back to factory settings in Nav and starting from scratch?

I normally use voice control to switch navigation announcements on and off.  Once they did not come back on, as you describe.  The way I manages to fix it was to use voice control to turn them off  (even though they were showing as on) and then use it again to turn them back on.

FS I doubt will mess anything up other than perhaps remove any saved locations.

While in nav have you then turned the volume up.

In setting do you have a Dynamic setting where it only speaks when the calculated route is left (you are lost)

Hold the on/off (volume) button in for about 30 seconds until it reboots - it is like doing a Ctrl Alt Del on a PC - should sort it.

The Columbus in my 13 plate used to do this if you used the voice control to turn the announcements on and off and it used to get confused, sometimes the only way to sort it was to do a hard reboot

Brilliant just seen this as couldn't suss it...shot straight out and tried both and great voice at last...many thanks

This is a definite bug - I have had the same thing happen when using voice control to turn off the navigation instructions. WIll be interesting to see if the firmware update for Amundsen fixes this issue (when I finally get around to installing it).

The bug has existed on every Columbus firmware I have tried from 0202 onwards - I reported it to the dealer about 2 years ago ..........
