Are you guys going simple or fully loaded?

Recommended Posts

I added everything I wanted and left off what I specifically didn’t want:

Superb Hatch 2.0 TDI CR 190 DSG Laurin + Klement

Business Grey

5 year warranty

Ventilated front seats.... Love them on days like today

Gearshift paddles... rarely use them but they are nice to have

Rear side window sunblinds... only used once so far

Heated washer nozzles... not sure if they have been used

Space saver spare wheel... wouldn’t own a car without a spare tyre

Rear view camera... nice and clear

Leather - Beige... very classy

19” Phoenix anthracite alloy wheels... the best wheels available on a Superb and really suit the car

Smart light assist... love it, I was prepared to reject the car if this had been missed off!

Bluetooth with phonebook... any better? not sure

Crew protection assist and rear side airbags... I am surrounded by airbags so why not offer the same to my son?

With hindsight the only thing I would change is it would have been a 4x4 as the 190 can struggle to put the power down.

I have lots of those options you listen but can't really remember when I'm writing it down.

I've seen people put up lists with every option and specified code but were do they find it?

I personally think that the black supernova is the best looking skoda original rim. It was a big hassle for me to get them!

When I ordered my 280 I went full mental.

How about you, did you keep it simple or did you think sk..w this and ticked in every box?

I went for a 280 estate dsg

Black metallic pearl

Black 19" supernova summer wheels

Grey 19" Phoenix winter wheels

Tinted windows

Glass sunroof

Kessy with alarm

Electric Leader/alcantara seats in black

Heated backseat

Heated front window

Webasto

Electric boot

DCC

Columbus and canton mib II

Bluetooth wifi

Park assist 3.0 auto parking

Traveller assist

Dsg paddles

Blind spot detected

Rear traffic alert

Tow bar

This is maybe not but it's the extra options I have in my head. Ordered beginning of March in Stockholm Sweden.

In my case it was more of what options not to order rather than what options to order. My thinking was that if I'm spending a lot of money on a new car then I may as well have pretty much all that is going so as not to regret it later, and what's several hundreds of pounds on top of circa £30,000?

So, for my Jungle Green Laurin & Klement 2.0 TDI150PS with brown ventilated leather I did NOT order:

Other than the standard 18" Pegasus anthracite alloy wheels - I liked the look of these and having never had wheels as big as 18" or anthracite before they will be a novelty to me

Spare wheel - I've got used to not having a spare wheel these days

Front passenger seat adjustment from rear - I very rarely carry rear seat passengers

Smoker's package - I and none of my likely passengers smoke

Panoramic sunroof - I've never been a fan of sunroofs and it's by far the most expensive option on an L&K

ISOFIX on front passenger seat - Most unlikely to ever get used

Integrated tow bar - Most unlikely to ever get used

Extended warranty - Unlikely to keep the car for longer than 3 years

Yes true, but I cannot abide driving a car with places for switches blanked off, I always think 'I could have had that option' and it annoys that I haven't.

That sounds like a very expensive case of OCD, Phil  :D

When I ordered my SEL estate last Wednesday (13th April) I got a call on the way home saying I could no longer order the rear view camera as it wasn't available to select any more.....thought this was a bit odd as it is still listed in brochure and car configurator online, but went for KESSY instead which I'll probably find more beneficial

That's interesting- wonder why it's been dropped..?

That's one of the MY2017 changes. The camera is now optional but you need full led taillights and wiper.

Does this apply to the estate?

I ordered a 1.4TSI SE with rear camera through NCD last Thursday and I've haven't heard there is an issue, though I assume the estate has wash/wipe on the rear door.

Why would you need to specify a wiper on the hatch for the rear view camera?

The camera is in the hatch release.

I think it's more likely that the camera lens will have a pressure washer on the MY17

I have a L&K estate with Met. Paint, Spare Wheel, Heated Washer Nozzles, Road Sign Assist & Panoramic Roof. If ordering again would include Smart Light Assist.

You can enable smart light assist with VCDS

AFAIK smart light require front light to be with led strips i.e. coding won't be enough and will need and components replacement.

Just realised that the rear camera wash will be part of the rear window wash/wipe so I guess all MY17 will have wipers.

Haven't made any order yet since waiting for 280 sportline but a few comments anyway. I'm with Philsmith and a few others, life is way too short to spend years driving a car that doesn't fully fulfill your needs. Of course for many people this is not an issue but since we're writing here I prosume that we are more into vehicles than an average person. When your time is up I'm quite sure that the last thing you think is not how you managed to save a few quid here and there. This just my opinion and don't want to criticize anyone because it is true that some financial arrangements make it quite difficult to justify extra spending.

There was also some discussion on L&K in different countries. L&K in Finland might be one of the most comprehensive in Europe since we have as standard for example all safety gizmos, leather seats, panorama roof, auxiliary heating system, Canton, premium navigation etc...

You certainly will not get full SLA (if any?) without new headlights with the extra 'eyelash' LED's.

Yes, what you get is the automatic change from low to high beam when cars approach from the front or rear which is more than enough IMHO.

So you get 'light assist' but not 'dynamic light assist' that leaves the high beam on but blocks out the part that shines on the incoming car.

Ah right so it is basically just high beam assist (HBA) that the O3 has.

Is this not std then? (not sure what trim level you have as I'm on the mobile)

Was not standard on my L&K 280. I had to enable it with VCDS

In Finland it is very easy - the L&K comes almost fully loaded. You have to add only:

- Heated windshield

- Optical parking view

- Phone box with signal booster

- Gear change flaps to steering wheel

- Digital TV receiver

Even aux heater, DCC, vented front seats/heated back seats, travel/dynamic light assist and sun roof are standard in the L&K
