  • Hydrogen will be the leap forward. Infrastructure, battery technology, and insufficient lithium reserves mean battery power will never become mainstream

  • VAG will find a way to fit complex drive belts that need changing every 4 years and DSG that will be ultra reliable.....

  • Believe it or not, London congestion charge is not an issue for the vast majority of us living in the UK.

In the UK, as of from January 17, you can now get a grant against buying the vehicles just like the £4,500 you can get for EV cars (plus with cars you get £500 for the charger too).

With the changes for 1st April on road tax ie anything but Zero emission EVs paying road tax both EV bikes and cars gain another advantage in conjunction with their refuelling costing about a fifth of what a diesel/petrol cars cost "fill-up" !

I've had my experience of auditioning for a pine box .

If 50% of motorists changed to EV tomorrow would the charging network structure cope and how would HMRC make up for the drop in revenue from petrol and diesel sales?

I guess EVs will be well suited to a lot of old folks for pootling to the village shop or Post Office.

Presumably they're also impossible to stall; so would put an end to that 5000 rpm to manoeuvre out of a parking space thing. :)

If 5% did tomorrow it would be a miracle & highly unlikely as that has never been the Governments intention.

Like never in a million years would more than 50% of those voting in a referendum vote for the UK to leave the EU.

Changes are coming and coming slowly so infrastructures need changing and pollution reduction needs addressed.

So let the Government get on with expanding Heathrow, and building HS2, and licensing fracking, and funding more Nuclear power stations

and shelving the Carbon Capture Establishments.

Sometimes the money granted to car Manufacturers to develop usable EV's will come to something.

There might be quite a few more Over £40,000 EV's being sold / leased in the UK after April 2017.

TESLA & VW might soon start adding this to their adverts, showing how green their EV's are and how it helps provide jobs and improves the lives of those in the 3rd world.

The President of the United States of America wants to 'Make America Great Again' and American Made Products for Americans & create jobs for Americans, so there is plenty of an opportunity to invade other countries and steal their natural resources like Cobalt and have North American children work in the mines.

It will be a change from invading countries to steal the oil.

Well so am I, cos it would be so neat. I'm working hard on world peace too.

That's science for you and I'm not so sure as to rubbish anything much.

Wouldn't believe everything, Tesla claim; battery farm could be installed within 100 days of signing a deal....Yeah right.

Someone i know bought a brand new Tesla P90D with insane mode, back in September and was promised a free battery upgrade to 100Kw and an even more insane mode; early in 2017 as part of the deal.

He is still waiting, now told due to demand for the 100Kw upgrade there is an 18 month waiting list.... He is now getting a brand new car with only a 5 months wait with the 100Kw battery already installed. Think he kicked a stink and it is being done at no real cost so it's not all bad, not 100% sure on finer details.

Pretty awesome car as a P90D but the 100Kw with its insane is even quicker, surprised the torque these things produce from an instant, is not twisting drive shafts or ripping the tyres off!

Sorry if I'm off thread.
