Superb Mk 3 Hatchback Sunroof

Featured Replies

Its totally unpredictable and a gamble then.

My car is just a year old now and im guessing the mechanism and lining is all loose than it was hence the amount of noises.

Unfortunately it seems beyond even the master techs to fix this. 2 attempts and nil improvement.

Skodas quality is as predictable as flipping a coin and making your choice.

My superb sunroof creaks and rattles all of the time. The dealer has had 2 attempts to fix and as yet has failed.  The roof itself rattles as does all the roof trim.

Skoda offer impressive equipment if you pay for it. Unfortunately the equipment is either poorly engineered or poorly assembled at factory.

The sunroof on my 230 was making a few creaking noises and I found when closing the roof ( when stationary ) if you helped the roof to close ( gentle pressure on the outside, pushing down ) the creaking would stop. It was like making the roof sit on the rubbers a bit better. Quick trip to the dealers and the rubbers were treated with a silicon type lubricant which made the rubber a bit more pliable. Job sorted creaking gone.

Im hoping the 'new' dealer will do this during the cars service.

As for the internal roof trim creaking. Not so sure without a major dismantle it will be solved.

Thanks for the information. You are a lot more helpful than the technicians who worked on my car last time.

On my Octy, the source of the noise, I traced down to the rear edge of the sunroof panel, contacting the roof paintwork, when closed. I used to apply detailer or polish to the paintwork in that area and it used to remove the creaking noise for a few weeks.

Maybe I should have asked the dealer to look at it, but as I had a temporary fix, I felt I could live with it.

I have to say they don't all squeak and leak. My 15-month-old sunroof is perfect. The shade is open except for nighttime and very cold weather.

I've found that driving at 55mph is quite comfortable with the roof open, as long as you open the rear windows to keep the buffeting down. It says closed at speeds above that, though.
