Convenience windows no longer working

Featured Replies

Hi,

The auto window opening and closing using my key fob has stopped working. The convenience option is ticked in the setup menu, but nothing happens when the lock or unlock button is held down.

Any ideas on how to get this working again?

Thanks

You could try turning on the ignition, disabling the convenience option, turning the ignition off, then on again and then finally enabling the option again.

Seems this approach can work for some of the options managed by the head unit when they refuse to work.

"Have you tried turning off and on again..."

Typical behaviour when the window controller loses its "Force Limiter" settings. You need to reset the windows:

1. Turn on the ignition (no need to start the engine).

2. Press the down button on the window controller (By the drivers elbow) and send the window down.

3. Now Pull (Lift the front edge) of the cars window opening button until they reach the top (closed position) and release the button.

4. Now Pull (as above) the button and hold it against the spring for 3 seconds.

5. Repeat the operation for each window.

That's it! - You have reset the Force Limiter for the windows and all it's normal functions such as "One-Touch-Close" & "Convenience" closing / opening will be restored.

It's all in the manual (somewhere!) - Hope this helps..............Tony

PS: It's not unusual for the settings to go awry occasionally. Disconnecting the battery or even starting the car with a battery low on charge will do this.

The above should work.

When mine stopped working, I realised the passenger door window stopped doing it's one touch open function. The other 3 windows were fine. When I reset the passenger window by holding it closed for 3 secs or so, the key fob open/close all windows worked again.

Any VCDS recently?

Hmmmm. Mine recently stopped unlocking all doors when I changed key fobs, if I use the old key fob it unlocks all door but, the spare only unlocks the drivers door on a single click, double click and everything unlocks.

You have to program each key individually. Turn the ignition on with the 'faulty' key then reset the convenience locking feature in the car menu to set global locking etc.

I tried to put my window up from the remote the other day and wondered why it didn't work! This thread answers the question. My windows have lost the settings as I have a recurring fault with the anti pinch so I've given up resetting them as I can reset it and it automatically resorts back to the anti pinch kicking in all the time! Quicker skoda release a permanent fix the better!

No fix from Skoda required. It's just the controller loosing it's memory setting for some reason - They simply work unless something happens to cause the setting to be lost or they become damaged in some way.

I suggest you have something else going on, such as a bad connection somewhere or as stated previously in "PS: It's not unusual for the settings to go awry occasionally. Disconnecting the battery or even starting the car with a battery low on charge will do this." You may even have a faulty controller - if you are confident that the battery is in good condition and have checked all your connections.

The voltage drops significantly when cranking an engine, especially a diesel, as in your case. So a poor connection or an ageing battery will cause this voltage to momentarily dip to a point where certain memory functions are lost, and the Force Limiter settings is usually one of the first to go. A battery can still be good enough to actually start the engine but insufficient to maintain an adequate voltage to support memory functions. ........Tony

It's been to 2 different skoda garages, one done the battery disconnection and reprogrammed everything, drivers lasted 20 minutes and passengers loses it immediately after I reprogramme it. Skoda say they are releasing new window motors this month to fix the issue apparently.

Mine have stopped working and wing mirrors won't fold in off key fob either. This happened after it was plugged in vdcs!!!!

Try resetting the one-touch function on each window (run window down and continue to hold switch for a few seconds, release switch and hold in down position for a few seconds agin then repeat that for winding the window up).

I had a similar problem when I collected my secondhand Elegance and this fixed it.

Would vcds stop this?

It did for me, Im not a vcds user but the guy who did mine had made a change incorrectly. We went back to the start and it reaolved the issue.

Had a similar issue and the Skoda service engineer gave me a 10 sec solution.here goes

-Open the key hole cover from the drivers side

-Insert the key

-Rotate it clockwise followed by anti clockwise

-bring it back to the original position

-Now try it & Works perfectly!!!!

That didn't worked out for me, but solution I found in audi forums worked well in my case.

Here it is:

"Turn ignition on
All the way down, press 5 times down, hold it for 3sec at 5th time.
All the way up, pull 5 times up hold it for 3sec at 5th time.
Do it for all the windows."

That's what I had to do to reset the one-touch windows on my 2015 Octavia.

Thanks. I'm having a similar problem at the moment. The car has just been serviced and repaired by a local non-Skoda garage, who replaced flywheel, clutch, carrier for front left door outer handle, and then returned the car to me. It seems they forgot to reconnect the cable for the keyless entry on that front left door handle, and now I've noticed the one touch Up/Down isn't working on the driver's door..it works on all the others ok. I'll test it this evening with the reset sequence described by Client76, and let you know if that has resolved it.

The car is a 2017 Superb SportLine by the way.

Yes, just tried it there, and perfect. One touch up and down is back working as expected. Thanks Client76 and Briskoda!

I can guarantee if I took it to my Skoda dealer in Ennis, Co. Clare, they would not have been able to fix it.

It seems the convenience function (holding the lock or unlock button) only works if the one touch works on all windows. If one of them is off the function won't work. So you have to reset it the way people described before: all the way down and hold the button for a couple of secs then up and the same. This solved the one touch for me and after it the key fob magic came back as well.

Thanks Client76, after changing the battery I had the same problem of the windows not automatically going up or down with one touch.

I followed the steps you described whixh fixed the one touch automatic windows instantly. Thanks again. 👍

Yes, confirmed....the convenience window option sometimes needs recalibrating; especially after a battery change.  If calibration is also not done; the alarm will also not work properly.
