Help with Electrics

Featured Replies

Hi guys

We had a flat battery in in 1997 Octavia, and since then have had problems with the electrics on the right hand side of the car.

When we put a new battery in we did the old trick of putting the key in the ignition and holding the unlock button.

This has got the central locking and Windows etc working passenger side.

However, the following still won't work:

- central locking driver side (driver and rear door)

- petrol release

- side mirror adjuster

- driver window

Our mechanic had a go, disconnecting the battery again, but no joy.

Before we go down there road of paying a fortune for an electrics specialist, can anyone suggest anything else to try?

For example, is there a central fuse that can be at the root of it?

Many thanks for any pointers :)

Did your mechanic(?) not check the fuses.

Can you not check them yourself. It does sound like a possible fuse issue, other than that a control module in the door (I think).

Good luck with it though.
