First, and last I hope, close scrape two days ago in my 10day old vRS Octi. Passing by a line of parked cars on my inside and well past most, a double decker bus approaches well ahead of the parked vehicles on my side and clear road on his side but he decides to continue unabated. Car just in front of me brakes as the bus approaches it and just manages to very gingerly turn off left into the now open space and avoids contact. Bus driver has now slowed but continues as I turn as far left as I dare go. My proximity alarm shouts out and as I struggle to get further left it shouts louder and louder and then applies the brakes so I cannot move any more. Meantime the bus continues and the outer edge of my offside wing mirror slides down the side of the bus until free of its rear. A good job the driver couldn't hear my choice words which continued for another five minutes at least. Fortunately no signs of the tickle.

Positive thoughts later: proved the sensors and alarm works; perhaps auto brake application stopped me trying to squeeze further left and increasing likelihood of more damage; you can turn the electrical wing mirrors inwards by manual intervention somehow (got to check this); good job I didn't see the bus driver or get his number.

On a happier note, I am just loving everything about the car.

Thanks for responses. Now confirmed my after thought that there is a position on the electric mirror adjustment switch that allows you to 'park' the mirrors; will be prepared next time if I need to slim the cars width!

I have front and rear parking sensors but having read the purchase spec, manual and original brochure, remain unsure of which of the variations I have and therefor the level of auto control by the cars systems. Car was ordered July '16 so picked up from knowledgable folk on here that means MY17.

A dashcam seems a good idea; I'll have a word with Santa.

Typical bus driving ****. They're horrific in London, don't look at all and just pull out. Hate them.
