Maxidot

Featured Replies

How do I know if my car has a maxidot display? I have read a number of posts/internet stuff but still don't know!

When using my steering wheel control I have a 'vehicle' option and it's always said 'no data to display'.

Maxidot is found in between the Speedo & Rev counter dials.

It can be plain black & white or colour, if you have a multi function steering wheel it's the button on the right next to the roller, with two rectangles and a curved arrow, that will allow you to scroll through the display.

Otherwise it's on pages 23-27 of the owners manual.

Would appear from your reply that I do have a black and white maxidot display, been using it since I bought the car without knowing it!!  Thank you for your reply.

Any idea why my 'vehicle' option will not show any info?

Is this something I need to speak to the dealer about?

If it's any consolation, I've never seen anything in it either so wonder what it's all about. :D

My dials are slightly different but the display in the middle is the same!

So I'm not the only one! That's a relief, if not a little annoying..

It displays any issues with the car. Low washer fluid amongst other things. If there is nothing wrong then there is nothing to show.

Well that's a bit of a relief.. had a low washer fluid warning a couple of weeks back, guessing if I'd have checked it would have shown up in there!?

As above - will show any "alerts".

These can be washer fluid, or service messages or tyre pressure related or if you turn the traction control off etc...

what Scott said.

Well I never, I've learnt something today. :D

Of course you can dial it up to display oil temperature if you want.

Never understood why you want to know the oil temperature, it's not as if you're going to cook fish & chips in it.

Some people like to know when everything is up to temp before spirited driving.

Cooking in really hot fat can burn the chips on the outside and still be raw in the middle, you need be to careful

Handy to know what the vehicle menu should show, i had guessed it may be to report issues. I have the Oil Temp option displayed as standard on my colour Maxidot in the same menu as the digital speedo and fuel consumption.

Would it display issues with brakes, e.g. when they need replacing?  I'm only asking as my brakes seem to grind a little until they have some heat in them!  I'm trying to get in touch with Skoda to see if they've been changed since new as there's close to 20k on the clock..

Well you kinda need to back off the loud pedal at 125C or you get an EPC at around 132C

I also have this, when my Bolero touchscreen was playing up in the cold I set it so that I could traverse DAB stations using the wiper stalk control button, shows up on this screen.

Alternately, when I bought the car it had a "warning light failure" message on here that it needed to be brought back for a software update to clear.

You could, of course, use that argument to say that the water temperature gauge is not necessary either - or the fuel gauge, etc, etc - hey, why not just fit a great big idiot light up on the dash and pull into the nearest gas station / Halfords when it lights up.
