Recommend a tuning garage in Manchester ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

As the title says, anyone recommend a good tuning garage in Manchester or not to far away. Want to get a few mods done and advice on other mods. I'm tempted to drive down to AKS tuning after seeing what they've done with their VRS but would prefer somewhere local.

cheers

I'm guessing as your from down south you've not used this garage.

Thanks for the help guys but what I'm after if recommendation from people that have used the garage they recommend.

Cheers

I've used Shark Performance in Mansfield (albeit on my MK2 Octavia vRS) and would highly recommend them. They have a dyno on site and Ben is a gent. :)

There is also Awesome GTi in Irlam, but I've not used them. Mixed reviews from what I've seen on here.

Another +1 for Shark - they serviced and remapped my MK1 Fabia VRS. Top blokes.

As you are up that neck of the woods I would say Shark. If you want to know more about how they work there are a couple of build threads from people that have used them. Dig out the 'Beti the Yeti' thread and have a read, Shark did a lot of that work.

AKS are also very good but it would be a long drive, I think they use Revo as opposed to doing custom mapping, so it depends on what you are after.

Cheers guys, I think Shark will be the one then, had a look at the site and they come across as down to earth kind of team.

@fiybynite I will take a look, thanks

I've used shark, the product was good but the customer experience wasn't what I would call great.

Choices up here you have:

awesome - who offer APR

stadt Technik - who offer Revo

unicorn - who offer custom software

Unit 20 - offer Revo

PSI tuning - offer Revo

ADS - based in Preston, offer Revo and have an excellent reputation

or you could find someone who offers oscarli software. Another member on here runs the oscarli map and it achieved great results.

I have used the below for a number of years and had brilliant service from both.  Mainly Awesome for my Octavia who have done my Eibachs, Filter replacement and Milltek installs.

Used Shark - again for a Mk2 FL TSI.

Great product and great service.

Yeah, I've heard really good things about Oscarli - they're only about 30 mins away from where I live.

Might give them a ring when the time comes, wonder if they do a switchable remap like the STS?

+1 for Oscarli, even when it was not feasable for him to do what was needed he could not have been more helpful.

Thanks James, I'm not after a remap yet, just a few mods like eibachs etc. Really what I after is a garage that really know their stuff so I can go in and have a chat with them about different bits I want doing. I've been spoilt for years as my mate worked in a local garage to me so always took my cars to him for everything but sadly he's moved to London to work for Jaguar.

Cheers, with awesome its the bad reviews that put me off, I'll go and check them out.

I have made the trip to Shark on 3 separate occasions, Ben is a top bloke but unfortunately a victim of his own success, hence they do not always return calls as they are very busy, that said I wouldn’t go elsewhere, when my MKII Superb was mapped Ben hit a problem which he wasn’t 100% sure he could get a replacement part the following day (it was getting late) so he hired a car for me to get home and then delivered the car back to me the following day!

Without wishing to divulge personal info, Ben told me he doesn't always keep well physically, so bear that in mind too.
