Oil change rates - as guidance

Featured Replies

Hello,

The maxidot display has started coming on with countdown for Oil change in x days. When I contacted the local dealer they advised me that the oil change and some related work (he mentioned about filter changes) will be about £170. I haven't contacted any other dealers yet but does any one know if this is the current normal rate? After checking my car records they said the car is on fixed servicing and a major service was done on April, 2016 (I bought the car in Sep,2016 at 14000 and now it is almost 23000). He did say that I can supply the oil but they will only take a special brand the name which I think he said some helix (sorry still learning about these things).

Any inputs much appreciated.

Thanks.

Oil and oil filter change (minor service) is £149 on the Skoda site http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/simply-fixed

If there are some additional filters being changed that sounds about the going rate. If not I'd be asking why it's not £149.

Interesting they let you take oil but only a specific brand. My local dealer let me take Quantum Longlife 3 5W 30 for a pretty hefty discount, but didn't restrict the brand or type I could bring. It is VW 504/507 approved though.

Thanks, that was very helpful.

I booked it online for £149 (booked as first service as there was no option for minor service) and confirmed it with the dealer to be done this week (did not mention the phone conversation yesterday when they gave me the next available date as end of this month and quoted me £178.48 for parts, labour and VAT).
