Remote control for central locking

Featured Replies

Hi All!

My English isn't so good, however I belive that you are understanding me ;) I'm read this topic and i think that the easiest method to realize remote control for central locking will be adding to your car some car alarm, for example BKA700002 - from original Skoda parts.

I had the same case a few years ago when I drove Fabia mk1 '07. It was a car in "Basic" version with "Fresh" packet (A/C + central locking + electric front window + rear parking sensors). I'm installed original alarm system dedicated for that car (BKA400002) and everyting worked fine, central locking was steering via additional remote control included with the alarm kit. I was happy for that.

In Fabia mk2 central locking is realizing various ways, depends from production date of your car. In cars after "face lifting" (>2010) all tasks related with comfort functions are realized in BCM module (J519 module). The module includes also receiver and transmitter for central locking because you have right BCM module type in your car to operate central locking with factory remote control which you bought. However I'm not sure that Fabia mk1 before "face lifting" not depending additional modules to operate factory remote control. I'm certain that in Fabia before FL included separate comfort module (independs for BCM), and you probably you should change that module if you should to using factory remote control. You should see an electrical schemes for your car.

Skoda offering the interesting service such ERWIN (https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/) which allows you to download (for example) electrical schemes for their cars. You should pay for an hour and seeking interesting information about central locking and remote control for your car :)

Yes i did know that. I asked that kind of kit from skoda dealer and I think it was bka 700003. But I wanted to do OEM fitting. And all the people who has done this kind of improvement have told that it's possible. Only coding seemed to be problem but then we decided with father and friend of mine that we take coding from dealer. My friend would have been coded it with me but we don't certainly know what to do.

Now I've got everything that I need for remote control upgrade! Only coding is needed for this case. A friend of mine has vcds but we don't maybe dare to do it ourselves so I have to book a time to skoda service:blush

Hi!

Sorry for not updating here for a while. But all the things went fine. It totally worked. I've got now remote control on my central locking. It works fine and it's oem fitting. Big thanks to all of you who were helping me. One thing keeps me little irritated.. I didn't have to make anything for coding and I didn't learn anything about vcds things.  Also the roof have changed colour. Before it used to be white but it had a little lack fault so we decided straight to paint it black  now the colour is a little bit more solid than before

Hi okku12,

My daughter has a 09 Fabia. I need a second key and some advice.

What remote fob did you buy?

Second hand or new?

Was it easy to program the key - immobilizer and chip - to STG46 with VCDS?

Okku12 if you’re still active on this site I am in the exact same situation as you please can you reply to this. I need your help!

I am also in the same situation, I have only keys to slide into the keyslot and turn to open the car, no remotes. It’s a 2009 Fabia. And in the winter all the key holes gets frozen and almost imposs to unlock the car. I hope okku12 come back and shares wich parts he ordered and how exactly did this upgrade.

Hi I've just got a 2008 Fabia 1.2 htp, also interested in upgrading it to remote central locking. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know where to start

Hello Bud,

Ill explain the whole process in one go.

Step 1:First thing I did was look for a replacement module. The module which you want is your convinence control module the one you have currently with central locking (not remote) should be 5J0 959 433. The module you need is 5J0 959 433 A. Check eBay I picked one up second hand for about £30.

Once you’ve got the new module

Step 2: Locate the old module

Yours will be in the same place as mine as I’m in uk too. Assuming you have a RHD its above the clutch pedal.

Step 3: Remove the old module

You need to remove some lower dash and I found that pushing the fuse box out next to the OBD Port gave me much better access. It’s an absolute pain to get to and get out. Unless you’re small with small hands. I pried mine out of the housing it’s sat in then you need to unclip it from the connection. Has two clips.

Step 4: Plug New Module in

I thought it would require coding via VCDS but it’s plug and play. Your car will recognise it immediately. I recommend you get the VCDS software as well as the Hex cable as you will need it to program your remote key.

Step 5: Pair new remote key

The Fob you need is part number 1J0959753DA. I got mine off Amazon for £14.

Make sure it’s the right fob or you won’t be able to pair it to the car.

To pair the key to the car I found the tutorials for vag remote keys did not work I.e placing in door and turning etc. I used the VCDS software. You need to go to the Central conv module. Go to adaptions and remote key adaption. The default value will be 1 change it to 2 and press save. Click the unlock button on the fob for about a second straight after and you should hear a slight click. That’s how you know it’s worked. For the middle boot button programming if it’s not done by default which was the case for me I had to go to central electrics module on VCDS and go to the remote key boot option and enter the value and save. I just did 3. So I hold the button for 3 secs and it opens.

That’s it. You have remote central locking.

Many thanks for that. I definitely want a crack at that.

So did you also get the key cut so it can be used in the ignition, or is this just for the remote?

Yeah I did get a key cut. When you get that key fob it comes with a blank blade. Just take that and your current key to an auto locksmith. I paid £8 to get mine cut

Hi buddy,

Not really. It is the hardest step. Took me a long time to get it out eventually. I used a small pry tool to unclip the two clips going into the module. I did actually break the housing which made it easier and in the end just zip tied the new module and left it like that.

Thanks for that. Did you disassemble much of the lower dash? Or were you able to get away with just moving he fuse box?

Just the fuse box. There’s two or three bolts holding some plastic piece in under the module I undid those as well. It is definitely doable just takes time and lot of patience.
