Columbus static noise ... or worse!

The two video clips illustrate the problem that is defying all known science .. including a handful of Skoda dealerships. At the moment it seems that I have to replace the whole Columbus system at huge cost. Even then, the fault may lie in other components. Does anyone have a clue as to what this problem may be? Is your unit equipped with Sound System? What happens if you power cold unit without ignition on?

First off I think you're better off going to a good audio or automotive electrical specialist. Skoda won't be interested in doing detailed diagnostics, they'll just want to sell you a new Columbus unit and get you out the door.

Has anything come up in a diagnostic scan? If Skoda won't give you the results of their scan, you might be able to find someone near you with VCDS to run a scan for you.

Is the noise present on all audio sources (e.g. CD, SD Card, BT) or just radio?

If it has the 10-speaker audio upgrade, it might be worth having a look at the amplifier for that system.

If you go into the fade/balance settings, can you check if it's the same noise from all of the speakers?

If you can determine it's a Columbus fault, send it to me and I'll either repair it or ship you a replacement for a lot less than Skoda will want.

Have you installed any LEDs in your car? I was getting really bad static on my Columbus. Turns out the LED DRL was just crap and feeding noise into the electrical system. Took them out and it disappeared.
